- ‘Chicken Girls’ Season 8 cast and release date
The 7th season of ‘Chicken Girls’ debuted in September 2020 but it did not make a lot of buzz, for a lot of reasons. And now as the show-runners have confirmed that an 8th season is very much on its way, we are here to see what could happen in the new season and whether it can make up for the show’s dwindling popularity.
‘Chicken Girls’ had its streaming premiere in December 2017 and in the first season, the series featured 11 episodes of varying durations of between 5 minutes to 21 minutes. It carried on with the same format in the following seasons as well. Within 4 years, the series has streamed 7 seasons. The short duration of the seasons and the episodes allowed the makers to come up with quick seasons.
The first season mostly dealt with the story of Rhyme McAdams, played expertly by Annie LeBlanc, a middle school student who exhibits her desire to be on her new school’s dance team. As we move ahead, we are introduced to her friends, Ellie, Quinn, and Kayla. And from then on, it’s a series about the aspirations of a teenage girl and her dream of becoming a well-known dancer. The characters go through a plethora of emotions during their middle school years and the series deals with themes such as friendship, love, crushes, and learning how to grow up. But as Rhyme enters the high school in the 3rd season, she begins learning many unexpected lessons about herself and the world.

‘Chicken Girls’ review
The first thing about the series, that catches the eye, is its star-cast. Full of many social media celebrities such as Hayley LeBlanc, Rebecca Zamolo, and Indiana Massara, the ensemble of the series is the first thing you notice. And the series has a huge ensemble and it can become a sort of a game to spot a social media star in almost every other frame. And we know that the makers didn’t just hire them for easy publicity, they have done some great work. The acting on the series, if not great, is largely watchable.
One other major aspect of the show is that the music featured on the show, in the dance numbers, and otherwise, is quite catchy. And one interesting piece of trivia is that the cast-members have recorded most of the songs featured on them, themselves. Now it takes some real talent to act and sing together.
Even though the story falters at points to maintain momentum and the plot is tiring and full of clichés, the episodes are quick and before it starts dragging on, the episode ends. This makes the series quite binge-worthy. Despite the plot being unoriginal, there are some great moments of bonding and character development among the characters that make it quite a wholesome experience to have.
‘Chicken Girls’ Season 8 – Cast and release date
However, the ratings for the series have seen quite a dip in the 7th season. It might have something to do with the fact that the show’s lead character Rhyme only becomes a recurrent casting member in the new season. This might be one of the reasons that season 7 came and went without making a peep. Now that the 8th season of ‘Chicken Girls’ is coming in 2021, let’s see what we know about the cast and release details.
With the main cast of the series leaving in the 7th season, it is highly unlikely that the old cast will return to save the drowning ratings of the show. In all likeliness, many new cast-members will be added to the ensemble. Harmony and her Chicken Girls will be taking on their new rivals Power Surge, and it will be interesting to see how the showdown unfolds. The release date for the 8th season has not yet been finalised. But we can hope for a mid-2021 release.
