Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago — detectives of the Precinct 99 — initially started out as highly competitive rivals at work… but then love just happened.
From season 1 to 5, Jake and Amy’s relationship has had its own set of ups and downs. Even then, it has stood the test of time.
Slowly yet steadily — Jake and Amy’s infatuation towards each other has transcended into something more meaningful. Jake eventually asked Amy out in Season 3 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine for the first time.
However, it hasn’t always been a bed of roses, especially for Jake.
The star detective — Jake Peralta is a happy-go-lucky kind of a guy but as they say, love has the power to change anybody.
And so it did. Jake Peralta soon turns from a casual guy to a jealous boyfriend for Amy. After all why not? Every guy is bound to get jealous if his girlfriend talks to another guy. (Well isn’t it just cute to see your boyfriend jealous for you?)
Without further ado, we have compiled four instances where Jake looked adorably cute every time he got jealous when Amy showered less than wanted attention at him.
- Jake Amy’s cold war.
- How Jake makes for a jealous boyfriend?
- Jake spoils Amy’s date. (for good tho)
Detective Amy Santiago and detective Rosa discuss Amy’s involvement with Teddy romantically. That’s when Jake steps in and asks Amy what is all the air about Teddy? Clearly, even when they were not dating, Jake Peralta wasn’t very happy with the news of Amy seeing another guy. Charles notices Jake’s expressions and prompts him of how jealous he sounds.
Detective Dave Majors
Detective Dave Majors calls Jake to an exclusive bar, Jake accepts the invitation under the impression that Dave wants to be ‘bros’. However, Jake later discovers that Dave had invited him over drinks to question him about his relationship with Amy.
When Jake responds ‘no’ to the absurd call, Dave reinstates his liking and intentions of asking Amy out. At that moment, instead of being supportive of the idea, Jake Peralta was rather uncomfortable and jealous.
Remember the ‘Puzzle Maker’ Melvin Stermley from season five? Yeah, the same guy who oozes hotness. Well, he marks his entry into the Precinct when Jake and Amy require help solving a serial arson case. Jake turns green with envy watching Amy enjoy laughter with Vin.
Given that Jake ought to be jealous of Vin as he is twice as muscled Jake is; he’s witty making funny insider-nerdy-jokes and damn good-looking. Keeping all these points in mind, Jake weighs himself against Vin and draws a comparison that puts him in an insecure and uncomfortable position.
When Amy later confronts Jake, Peralta reluctantly accepts that he indeed was jealous of Vin. However, Amy puts all his doubts to rest when she tells Jake how much she loves him.
Amy goes out on a date with a random dude at the same restaurant where Jake is. While Amy is enjoying drinks and dinner with her date, Jake interrupts her through a call and walks into her date. Obviously, this does not go down too well with Amy but Jake’s purpose seems solved.
Summing it up, Jake Peralta may be a jealous boyfriend but that just reflects the love he has for Amy. Lastly, I think we all agree that the two make for a really cute cop couple! Keep coming back to DKODING for more such interesting stories.
