‘Better Things’ Season 5 renewed
Days at FX are about to get better! ‘Better Things’ was renewed for season 5 earlier last year and it seems like nothing has been able to budge that yet. Highly critically acclaimed, ‘Better Things’ immediately outshone most of the comedies out there as the viewers got to experience a sensitive, breathable, and fresh new series. The story follows a single mother, Sam Fox, who is also trying to make it big as an actor as she raises her three daughters, Frankie, Max, and Duke, in LA. Apart from just raising her daughters while pursuing an impossible career, Sam has also taken up the responsibilities of her mother, Phil, an English expatriate with questionable senses living right across the street.
When it comes to Sam, she is a fierce woman with no filter for her mouth or opinions. She is relatable, fierce, and extremely lovable. She takes care of every little detail in the lives of her daughters and mother while also trying to make a career and she does it with humour and honesty.

Pamela Adlon, the mind and the talent behind this amazing comedy is the shoulder that is single-handedly taking the show forward. Adlon plays the role of Sam Fox on the show and as if that wasn’t enough, she is also the writer, creator, and director of ‘Better Things’. Apparently, the series is partially based on Adlon and is semi-autobiographical, to be technical. ‘Better Things’ has won a Peabody Award in 2016 and has been called one of the best television shows of the decade by prestigious media housesand magazines like “The Hollywood Reporter”, “Entertainment Weekly”, “Rolling Stone” and the likes. In fact, Pamela Adlon had received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her brilliant performance as Sam Fox.
Pamela Adlon signs an overall deal with FX Productions
With FX renewing their hit comedy, ‘Better Things’ for season 5, Pamela Adlon went forward to signing an overall deal with the FX Productions. According to the signed deal, Pamela Adlon will be exclusively working on developing both scripted and unscripted programme content for FX. She will also be potentially doing the same for the alternate divisions of Walt Disney Televisions.

Speaking about Pamela Adlon, the FX president, Eric Schrier, had showered all sorts of praises for the young writer, actor, director, and creator. He said,
“We are truly honoured to work with Pamela. She is one of the most talented artists in the business, which is exemplified through her work as a producer/showrunner, actor, writer, and director. The most recent season of ‘Better Things’ was its best yet and we’re excited about what’s to come in season 5, as well as all of the future projects we are working on together”
It’s true that ‘Better Things’ has only brought the good stuff for the network up until season 4, and it’s only a matter of time before season 5 drops on our laps!
‘Better Things’ Season 5: What to expect?
So far, everything seems to be A-okay with season 5 of ‘Better Things’. If all goes right, we could expect the upcoming season launch sometime in 2021 itself. Among the cast members, most of the known faces would obviously make a comeback. That should include Pamela Adlon as Sam Fox and Mikey Madison as Max Fox. Hannah Alligood would return to play Frankie Fox and Olivia Edward will return as Duke Fox. And, of course, Celia Imrie, would return as Sam’s mother, Phyllis.
As for the plot, season 5 would pick it up from where it had left at the end of season 4. By the end of season 4, we saw Sam and Xander getting close and Duke finally realising that self-love is more important than getting momentary validation from marrying someone. Where does ‘Better Things’ take the Foxes from here, only season 5 can tell. So, gear up!
