‘Breaking Bad’ needs no introduction, and the same goes for its prequel spin-off ‘Better Call Saul’, which viewers hope will make it to the seventh season rather than end with the announced sixth. Let’s see what are the possibilities for the show to continue even after the sixth season.
‘Breaking Bad‘ transformed the way we watched television. The writers constructed an entire world for the show and put it together piece by piece. From the attention to detail to the layered characters, it’s impossible to talk about how ground-breaking the show is, without going into detail.

So, naturally, when the showrunners announced that a ‘Breaking Bad’ prequel would be on its way, fans expected to see similar, impactful performances! ‘Better Call Saul’ follows Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), as he becomes Saul Goodman, the criminal lawyer we’ve known him as.
The spin-off prequel follows the timeline of events that occurred six years before the finale of ‘Breaking Bad’.

The spin-off resonated with fans especially because of the return of characters like Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), and Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks). It’s on the way to becoming as successful as ‘Breaking Bad’, with six seasons, one more than its parent show.
The pandemic restricted the production of ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6, and ever since, viewers have been hoping to see the show get renewed for a new, seventh season!
The series will reveal ‘Breaking Bad’ secrets that no one knows
Viewers of the show have often wondered if Jesse Pinkman and Walter White would make an appearance in the prequel. The stars have often confessed that the timelines of the two shows are extremely different, and it’d be impossible for them to have a cameo of sorts.
Since it’s a prequel show, it wouldn’t be wrong to presume that the finale could feature the appearance of their characters. The showrunners haven’t divulged much information about the big ending, but they did share something that all fans should know.
“Digital Spy” previously reported that co-creator Peter Gould confessed that the sixth season will reveal more about the old characters. He said,
“I think by the time you finish watching ‘Better Call Saul’, you’re going to see ‘Breaking Bad’ in a very different light. I think we’re going to learn things about the characters in ‘Breaking Bad’ that we didn’t know”.
He even teased fans about how they’d get to “learn things about the events of ‘Breaking Bad’ that we (the fans) didn’t know”. If that isn’t exciting enough to help us wait patiently, we don’t know what is!
What’s happening with ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6?
The series is often compared with its parent show and seems to be a bigger fan-favourite. It is the epitome of stellar storytelling, and without the title of a prequel, a great standalone show, nonetheless. Every action, every word, and every moment that unfolds has a ripple effect, and Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould depict it beautifully.
The new season was expected to release sometime early next year, and the makers hoped to begin production in late 2020. They’ve been unable to resume production yet but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear the good news any day now! Most television shows have begun filming again, and use the necessary precautions because the show must go on.
If the season doesn’t go into filming at all this year, we can hardly expect to see it in 2021. At a “Deadline” event, co-creator Peter Gould explained that they were doing “everything humanly possible” to resume filming. This was back in August, so things might be looking up soon.
Can ‘Better Call Saul’ get a seventh season?
It’s quite possible that Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan decide to extend the show to season 7. There’s still a lot of storylines that need explaining, and a lot of character decisions that need to offer clarity. The show embodies character development unlike anything viewers have ever seen before and keeps them guessing throughout.
It’s not predictable, which makes it an incredible watch. Saul Goodman is an intricately written character in a series which manages to cleverly draw a line between doing the right thing and being a criminal. The plot only keeps getting interesting, there’s never a dull moment, and the showrunners should bank on that.
It could give the series the lifespan it deserves and maybe depict a meeting between Saul Goodman and Walter White? A new season is enough time for new subplots, and could be the big ‘Breaking Bad’ reunion fans have been waiting for!
