Fans love Berlin, and they hate him equally.
When we met Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, at the beginning of Money Heist Season 1, we took him for the extremely professional, calm, and reliable thief, the best for the heist. But later on, we saw him showing his real side. No doubt he was a real d*ck, but yet again, a professional one.
Fans love Berlin for his complexity that begins from his face, to then his words, his actions, and then goes on with his past and his relationship with the Professor, played by Álvaro Morte. There are too many possibilities to what Berlin led Money Heist spin-off on Netflix could focus on. Also, the fate Berlin mate in the later season of the show, makes his return a more interesting story.
Alex Pina, the creator, shares his plan for Netflix’s Money Heist Spin-off led by Berlin.
Show’s creator Alex Pina said in an interview that various Money Heist spin-offs are being discussed. He said, “We do have many possibilities for some spin-offs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters.”
Though he went on talking about how every character has the potential to a spin-off, he talked majorly of how good a spin-off about Berlin will be. He said, “Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) case for his own show is very clear; he’s a misogynist, a psychopath, egocentric, a narcissist, a delinquent, a rapist… but still there are lots of people who adore him because he values friendship, loyalty or fraternity.”
The creators and Netflix are aware of how much people adored Berlin on-screen, and they are well aware of the potential of his character. Thus, if Berlin leads Netflix’s Money Heist Spin-off, it should come as no surprise.
