BBC Wales Director Rhodri Talfan Davies doubts that Doctor Who will begin filming anytime soon for its Season 13 amid the social distancing.
Every show and movie on this tiny planet were halted. The shows in production had to postpone filming. And the movies to be released had to shelve the release for a few months. This entire scenario also affected the filming of BBC Doctor Who Season 13, and we wonder if the effects are still in play.

As the pandemic situation is on the rise in some parts of the world, a few parts that have almost fought their way out are trying to get back to work. Hollywood was one of the most affected industries. As all the shows and movies were restricted from filming, and the closed theatres meant no release as well.
However, following the Social distancing norms at locations in Europe and the US, where the restrictions had been eased-off, several studios like Disney, Netflix, WB, etcetera have begun production of selected shows.
But the BBC Wales Director has shown certain hesitation in confirming if the filming of Doctor Who will start anytime soon.
Filming of Doctor Who Series 13 is in soup – says BBC Wales Director.
While most of the studios are willing to begin the production of their shows in some way possible. BBC Wales Boss doubts that filming of Doctor Who will start anytime soon.
Rhodri Talfan Davies, Director of BBC Wales, has recently shared his concerns regarding the Social Distancing norms, and how a production so big couldn’t possibly be done with social distancing.
During an online Q&A, when asked about the plans for Doctor Who and it’s Series 13, Davies said: “It’ll be down to social distancing.”
As per him, only when the Social Distancing will end, any decision regarding the filming of Doctor Who will be taken by the BBC.
“A production like that, which at any point employs hundreds of people, freelance and staff. I don’t believe can be made to the current standard in a socially distanced environment.”
“So, it depends when you think social distancing is going to end.”
Different Social distancing rules.
Doctor Who, for the majority parts, has been made in Wales. And for the last couple of series, the majority of filming is being done in Cardiff Bay.
Keeping that in mind, Davies hinted towards the possibility of Social Distancing measures being different in Wales than England. The different guidelines by the Welsh Assembly Government might influence the decision of BBC on Doctor Who Series 13 filming.
Davies said: “It may well be that the rules on social distancing in Wales are different to those in England.”
“And obviously each production center from those two countries is going to need to respond to the specific rules and regulations that each of the governments are introducing.”
Doctor Who Series 13 release date.
Previously, the rumors suggested that BBC plans to begin the filming of Doctor Who series 13 in September. In that case, the fans could have hoped to get the show a little earlier.
However, as per Davies’ comments, if the social distancing norms continue for longer, it might mean a major delay in already delayed production.
However, BBC has declined to comment on Davies’ remarks as the studios and network haven’t announced any date till now. Do you think BBC will be able to begin filming for Doctor Who, or fans will have to wait longer?
