Release date of BBC’s Sherlock season 5
While speaking to Digital Spy in 2016, Series co-writer Steven Moffat gushed about the fact that he gets constant messages from fans to revive the series for Sherlock Season 5 on BBC network.
“We’re all constantly thrilled and amazed by people’s enthusiasm for Sherlock. We hope to carry on as long as we can.”

After the fourth instalment was aired, Moffat dropped major hints that he and his co-creator Mark Gatiss will any day reopen the chapter of Sherlock with season 5 on BBC.
“I’d be slightly surprised if we never made it again. But I’ve been surprised before.”
Now since the duo has finished working on Dracula, BBC’s Sherlock season 5 can be revisited soon. According to some reports online, the story is already in works and the series is expected to premiere by 2022. Hitherto, there is no official confirmation on the revival of BBC’s Sherlock season 5, it would not be surprising if the miniseries reboots owing to its immense popularity.
Sherlock without Cumberbatch [or Freeman], if BBC Sherlock season 5 premiers now
Benedict Cumberbatch (who plays the iconic Sherlock Holmes) spoke on his wish to revisit Sherlock. He wants to be back with season 5 and don Sherlock’s cap but only when he gets old, and in Sussex farm. If BBC decides to premiere Sherlock season 5 now, it is highly likely that Cumberbatch will get replaced with another Sherlock.
Since Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (who plays his dear Dr. Watson) are super busy with their prior commitments, we will have to watch Sherlock season 5 without our Baker Street Boys. An unbearable consolation prize that nobody wants.
Who gets to become 221 B Baker Street new bride?
Sooner or later, when BBC’s Sherlock season 5 premiers, Johnlock conspiracy (Fan theory Sherlock and John are Gay) will resurface. Martin Freeman, who plays John Watson was upset with the ending of season 4. He was quoted in an interview that fans felt betrayed when Johnlock didn’t happen.

‘So by the time we filmed the last ones there were some fans who were so adamant that John and Sherlock were gay, they knew it and they knew that Steven (Moffat) and Mark (Gatiss) were going to write an episode where we held hands off into the sunset together, and so when that didn’t happen there was a chunk of people going, “This is betrayal”.’
Even if Moffat and Gatiss comply with fans’ demand for the ultimate Johnlock in Season 5 on BBC’s Sherlock, there’s another strong contender in the name of Molly Hooper.
In Season 4, Eurus Holmes forces Sherlock to make Molly say “I love you” or else Molly will die. For Molly, it is hard to utter those three words because she hopelessly loves Sherlock. Starting as a fangirl, Molly has entered into Sherlock’s universe and we could see how emotionally distraught Sherlock was when Molly’s life was in danger. In the end, Molly makes “the Sherlock Holmes” say I love You. Though forced, his love confession and later on his reaction needs to be investigated in season 5.
