Marc Guggenheim, creator and writer of Arrow series recently spilt the beans by saying that the show’s finale recycled its footage from a cut scene in Season 2.
The CW series, Arrow is based on a DC Comics character named Green Arrow and ran for 8 seasons prior to coming to an end earlier this year. Marc Guggenheim, writer and co-creator of Arrow revealed on Twitter that the series finale reprocessed footage from season 2.
- Arrow creator Marc Guggenheim posted pages of scripts on his Twitter to reveal which scene was reused for the finale
- What happened in Arrow Season 8 finale?
- Guggenheim posted fake scripts to prevent leaking Tommy Merlyn’s death in Season 1 too
Marc tweeted two pages of the script that were recycled, along with a heading that reads, “This is the original opening for Arrow Ep. 223. It was cut for time, but we shot it and utilized that footage for the opening moments of the series finale. (Rather than returning to the location, Production recreated the woods on a soundstage.)”
What happened in Arrow Season 8 finale?
During the most recent Arrowverse crossover events, the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) sacrificed himself to rescue humanity. The series finale of Arrow episode titled ‘Faded’ dealt with the repercussions of the Green Arrow’s demise, and paid a sentimental tribute to the fallen hero.
Arrow Season 8 finale episode was a pleasing conclusion to the eight-series-long superhero drama and resolved the story arcs of the remaining characters.
The final episode witnessed Oliver Queen’s friends and family reunite, including those who had died in the previous seasons. This included his best friend Tommy Merlyn, his mother Moira Queen, and Quentin Lance.
Arrow Season 8 Finale: In a multiverse reboot, Moira is alive
The script posted by Marc on his Twitter exhibits Oliver Queen imagining a hypothetical situation in which he was able to save his mother, Moira, from Slade Wilson. [FYI] Moira had been killed by Slade in Season 2. This is the scene that was reprocessed and reutilized in the finale, and also saved the showrunner’s efforts and money from coming back to the same location.
This scene was used in the finale because when the multiverse was restarted by Oliver, it had a parallel version of Moira that had survived the attack from Slade in season 2.
Guggenheim Posted Fake Script Pages To Prevent Leaking Tommy Merlyn’s Death
This is not the first time that Guggenheim has posted an old script of the Arrow series on his Twitter account. Prior to this, the creator of the series uploaded three pages of a fake script to prevent the leaking of Tommy Merlyn’s death in season 1. The fake pages of the script depicted a hateful Tommy promising to kill Oliver, in order to avenge his father Malcolm Merlyn. But the actual footage shows Oliver and Tommy reconciling before Tommy’s death, which was a huge mislead.
Even though the show may be over, there are still many more stories to tell in an ever-growing Arrowverse.
