Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 release date and trailer launch updates
The show creator Amy Sherman in 2017 told Hollywood Reporter “I think we know what our trajectory is for the first four to five seasons. And then I just want to see if I’m still breathing at that point. If I am, then we’ll continue or Dan [Palladino, the husband and co-creator] and his new wife will continue!”
Just a week after the premiere of season 3, Amazon Prime renewed for season 4 in December 2019. The official dates of trailer launch and premiere of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 are not yet announced. But following the release pattern, one can claim that season 4 will release by December 2020. The trailer launch of Mrs. Maisel season 4 can be expected in October 2020.
What makes Amazon’s Mrs. Maisel so marvelous in previous seasons?
The series brilliantly takes us along the journey of a Jewish American housewife, Midge, who discovers her knack for standup comedy after her marriage falls apart. “Women are supposed to be mothers. It’s supposed to be natural. It comes with the t*ts, right? The equipment is pre-installed.”
That’s how marvelously, Midge aka Mrs. Maisel (stage name) describes the status of women in standup comedy and, in general, all professions during 1950’s of New York.

Midge and Lenny Bruce finally walk that line
In episode 5th of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3, after getting lessons on loneliness in the day from Carole, Midge ironically bumps into none other than Lenny, “Mr. All Alone”. After the live TV show, where Lenny introduces her as his “wife — or possibly my sister”, they set for a seemingly romantic night out together.
Intimate dancing, drinking and sensuous staring contest in Cuban club eventually end near Lenny’s hotel room. And we thought that the moment has arrived when the two comedians will seal their relation turning the rumours true, only to be disappointed by Midge in the end. She ultimately friend-zones Lenny even after he gives rave reviews for her stand-up act.
Midge has every reason for not sleeping with Lenny even after that steamy evening together and here’s how. Amy Sherman-Palladino shares why Midge didn’t hook up with Lenny Bruce,
“He’s possibly the only person in her life that really understands what she [wants]. He’s the first man in her life that ever looked at her as a person and not as a piece of ass. That relationship is very special. And I think she was too afraid to f*ck it up.”
Why Rachel Brosnahan “begged” Amy Sharman to “never ever cross that line”?
Even Rachel Brosnahan aka Midge is on the same page with creators. She literally begged to not include a romance between Midge and Lenny.

Brosnahan told The Hollywood Reporter “I begged Amy to never, ever cross that line, and she agreed. I think that their friendship is so important to both of them, but especially to Midge, and it’s an intimate friendship, unlike a lot of the ones I’ve seen between men and women on television.”
Midge chose the platonic path for her and Lenny. For her, his friendship is very important and their relation is much more than butterflies and sparks. And, we agree with the makers and Midge but a part us still wants Midge to begin a romantic relationship with Lenny in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4.
The real reason why Midge and Lenny hold no future
The biggest reason why Midge and Lenny don’t hold a future is because Lenny Bruce character in series is inspired from real Lenny Bruce who died of a drug overdose at age 40. The show-makers can’t alter the reality to give us our favourite TV moment.
We will have to wait for season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to see how Lenny and Midge the story progresses and meet with the tragic end.
