Remember how we all cried when Hopper died in Stranger Things 3. And how we all pleaded to Duffer Brothers to bring back Hopper in Stranger Things 4. Well, nobody thought till the very second last episode of Stranger Things 3 that we’ll ever wish the same for Billy.

Billy Hargrove, played by Dacre Montgomery, was indeed an interesting character. But his acts weren’t very pleasing to the fans, and everyone wished him dead for his deeds. The intensity of his character rose incredibly when he became the host for Mind Flayer in season 4.

However, in the sudden turn of events during the finale of Stranger Things, when Billy came back in his senses, he redeemed himself by sacrificing his life and saving Eleven. The redemption of Billy made fans fall for his good side, and now they want Billy to return in Stranger Things 4.

How is Billy going to return in Stranger Things 4?

When Hopper died, his fans went crazy over the makers. Fans theorized each and every escape route for Hopper which he could have used to escape alive from the scene. The fate almost seemed definite for Hopper, but Netflix and Duffer Brothers listened to the demand and revealed Hopper alive and healthy in the teaser for Stranger Things 4.

A similar fate is brought upon Billy by the makers. Though we saw Billy die in Stranger Things 3, there are always strange possibilities in Stranger Things. The way Billy died has left fans wanting to see more of the redeemed Billy. That’s why the return of Billy in Stranger Things 4 is highly likely. But how?

Original Billy is in Upside Down

There’s a theory that Mind Flayer clones his hosts. It says that Mind Flayer doesn’t fight through the actual persons. But it arrests them in Upside Down and clones their bodies to use as it’s hosts. It can be possible as we don’t know the nature of Upside Down more than what was showed to us, which was very little.

At the time Will was a host of Mind Flayer, we often saw him being at both sides of the world. In that case, Billy can return in Stranger Things 4.

What happened with Billy in Starcourt Mall?

It’s unlikely that the one died in the mall was not original Billy, as we saw his redemption. But a conflict that lies here is that we never saw what they did with Billy after we left the mall. What if the, presumably dead, remains of his body were taken to the upside-down by Mind Flayer or Demogorgon or some other host? Can he be revived by Mind Flayer?

Another possibility suggests that Billy might have been taken by Russians. They might be currently experimenting on him to revive him and use his as a weapon. Or revive him just to experiment upon him. Due to these possibilities, Billy Hargrove might return in Stranger Things 4.

Can a host of Mind Flayer be killed?

It’s something we don’t know, but there are some serious doubts about it. Billy survived Eleven, he survived car crashes, he survived every wound and blows. How? Because he was the host of Mind. So, does that mean that a host of Mind Flayer becomes immune to all kinds of physical threats?

Billy when died in Stranger Things 3 finale had redeemed himself, but we didn’t saw Mind Flayer leaving his body, he still remained the host of Mind Flayer. So how was it possible that he died? If a host of Mind Flayer can’t be killed, then it wasn’t possible for Billy to get killed while still being a host. It could mean that Billy is not dead and is going to return in Strange Things 4.
