Seven talented actors who can act, write, and direct all at the same time.
âWriter-Actor-Creatorâ – these entertainers are a triple threat and fans canât outgrow their love for such crusaders of entertaining cinema. As hard it is to nail one job, these artists can wear multiple hats and still manage to look amazing.
Here are 7 most talented actors/writers who are exceedingly good at multi-tasking.
(Spoiler! The list is dominated by female writers, and rightfully so.)
Highlights â
- Top talented actors-writers
- John Krasinskiâs journey from âThe Officeâ to âA Quiet Place part 2â
- Mindy Kaling to co-write âLegally Blonde 3â
- Issa Rae â Emmy nominee for âInsecureâ
7. Mindy Kaling
When it comes to giving eccentric comedy, Mindy knows exactly how to make her fans laugh. A writer, actor, comedian, and producer, Mindy has proved her mettle every single time. She gained mass recognition after playing the role of Kelly Kapoor â a fulltime pop-culture enthusiast who also serves as a client-servicing representative to pay the bills! in NBCâs hit sitcom âThe Officeâ.
Twitteratis couldnât keep calm when Mindy announced she would be co-writing âLegally Blonde 3â starring Reese Witherspoon.
6. Issa Rae
With two Emmy Nominations for Best Lead Actress under her belt, Issa Rae is no ordinary artist in the industry today. The star (and creator) of âAwkward Black Girlâ is highly recognized for portraying the experiences of African-American women in a non-stereotypical fashion.
Author of New York Times Best-seller âThe Misadventures of Awkward Black Girlâ rose to fame after exploding social media with the iconic role of J (Played by Issa) who is internetâs first black female-nerd who merely keeps her love life afloat.
5. John Krasinski
Everyone knows John as âa black-belt in gift wrappingâ from NBCâs sitcom âThe Officeâ. But what most of the fans donât know is how brilliant a writer/creator Krasinski is. Currently starring in his own web-series âSome Good Newsâ, John has been lauded for creating and co-writing the critically acclaimed horror thriller âA Quiet Placeâ.
Johnâs character, Lee Abbott from the âA Quiet Placeâ franchise, is highly captivating; a stoic father who will do anything to save his family from the âalien apocalypseâ. (Wonât spoil it for all those who havenât watched it yet.) The sequel of this horror thriller (A Quiet Place Part 2) will hit the theatres in April 2021.
4. Lena Waithe
To be able to write about your “Coming out story” isn’t easy at all, especially if that’s for a web series on Netflix. You can be criticised, booed, and even shamed by spineless trolls on the internet. But Denise (played by Lena Waithe) decided to do it anyway for the ‘Thanksgiving episodeâ of âMaster of Noneâ.
Deniseâs character portrays how difficult it is to be a black-queer woman in a patriarchal world. The Chicago born screenwriter went on winning Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2017 (for the same episode). How cool is that!
3. Woody Allen
Only one of the greatest gifts of god to Hollywood (and us), Woody Allen is a household name in America. Having directed, co-created, and written several Academy Award-winning movies, Woody Allen had established himself as a theatre-extraordinaire as early in the 70s when he started producing characters like Annie Hall (âAnnie Hallâ), Judah Rosenthal (âCrimes and Misdemeanorsâ) and Cecilia (âThe Purple Rose of Cairoâ).
Woody created Alvy Singer a neurotic-pessimistic-comedy writer which is regarded as one of the most iconic characters of 70s Hollywood. There canât be a âBest Writer-Actorâ list without Sir Woody Allen.
2. Phoebe-Waller-Bridge
This list cannot be completed without including the writer and star of the popular comedy show âFleabagââ Phoebe-Waller-Bridge. First performed as a one-woman play in the UK, it was picked by BBC Three and Amazon Studios later.
The cringe-comedy series is a hilarious account of Fleabag (Phoebe-Waller); a 33 years-old free-spirited, whimsical woman living in London who can turn any situation into a sexual satire. With plentiful sharp-one liners, Phoebe sexts it up by introducing characters like “The Arsehole guyâ and the âHOT Priestâ. There is hardly any award that Phoebe didnât bag for this original piece of theatre.
1. Tina Fey
All âMean Girlsâ lovers will agree when I say Ms Norbury (played by Tina Fey) was the most âfetchâ teacher at North Shore High School. Though Regina was the most popular girl at school, it was Tina Fey who trailblazed her way to become the first female head writer at Saturday Night Live (SNL).
The ridiculously talented actress, writer, comedian, and producer is best known to (write and) star in the popular sitcom â30 Rockâ and cult-classic âMean Girlsâ. Looks like thereâs nothing that Tina canât do.
It is surreal to realise that all these people have created so many iconic characters and continue to entertain us with their witty characterisations. Hoping that they never cease to tickle the fans with their multiple crafts.
