‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is an American police procedural comedy television series. The show that currently has 7 seasons debuted on Fox in September 2013. After Fox cancelled the 6th season of the show, it was later revived on NBC for further seasons. ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is a hilarious blend of interesting situations and weird characters.
However, the show doesn’t remain hilarious all the time. There are plenty of moments in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ where you will find yourself shedding tears and feeling sad. ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is also hailed as one of the most progressive shows, as it keeps taking on topics like racism, harassment, inequality, bullying, etcetera.
“These have been the best years of my career.” – Captain Holt
Fans had a hard time controlling their tears when Captain Raymond Jacob Holt made an emotional farewell speech. In line with Wuntch’s orders, Captain Holt prepares himself to bid goodbye to 99th Precinct, and his team. In those moments of his speech, the usually tough Captain almost broke down into tears.
What made the scene even more emotional was the reaction from Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy. They freaked out and couldn’t believe it. In the end, the Captain said, “These have been the best years of my career”, while trying hard to not cry, and walked out.
“A Dangerous Black Man.” – When Terry faced racism
This was undoubtedly one of the most hitting and sad moments of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’. As ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is known to be a bold and progressive show, this scene from season 4 episode 16, titled “Moo Moo“, had fans shed some real tears.
After Terry (Terry Crews) faces racism for being Black, by a policeman, he aggressively arrives at Holt’s place to hold Holt answerable for not filing his complaint. While Terry takes us on an emotional journey of what he faced in the past and how he feels about the recent incident, Holt explains to him how filing a complaint could ruin Terry’s career.
“Do you know why I became a cop? Because when I was a kid, I always wanted to become a superhero. But right now, I don’t feel like a superhero, I feel the opposite”.
And this broke our hearts into pieces.

Not necessarily a scene that’ll make you cry, but defiantly a sad moment for Jake and his father in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’. In the episode “Captain Peralta“, when Jake’s father marks his absence in the party, letting Jake down once again, Jake visits his dad to confront him.
There, he argues with his dad. He reveals how he always looked up to him as his hero, and then he says,
“But I think I’m finally starting to see you for who you really are … a pretty selfish guy, who genuinely doesn’t care about being a dad”.
When Amy tells Jake about her scary experience
In season 6, Amy recalls the horrible harassment experience she had in her previous posting. While Jake and Amy were investigating a harassment case, Amy tells Jake how her previous boss tried to take advantage of her.
The whole conversation turns sad, and fans feel for Amy. Amy says,
“This kind of stuff has happened to literally every woman I know. I just wanted to help make it better for this one woman”.
“What if I never get a second chance?” – Rosa breaks up with Marcus
After figuring out one of the weirdest ways to break up with Marcus, Rosa expresses her feelings to Holt. She tells him how she feels sad about breaking up with Marcus. She accepts that she cares about him so much, but she isn’t ready to marry yet. Rosa breaks into tears while expressing her fear of never getting a second chance in love.
“What if that was it – my one chance of love? What if I never get a second chance?”
As Rosa cries, Holt starts crying in that scene, and with them, the ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ fans also shed some tears in that sad moment.
