Ray Fisher’s Cyborg had a sorry fate in the 2017 Joss-tice League, Snyder Cut will reinstate the original charter arc which takes us to his roots
Maybe the biggest [rather unknown] loss of the 2017 Justice League was the representation of people with disabilities. Via Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher, Zack Snyder intended represent people with disability. But as fate decree not only Snyder’s intention but entire character arc of Cyborg was scrapped by Joss Whedon. The controversial director Whedon was accused of abusing and victimizing actors on set by Fisher when the cut was announced. He isn’t the only one though, the cast of fan favourite ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ also accused Whedon of similar behaviour.
Why Cyborg’s Arc was left out?
Warner Brothers was trying to do the impossible with the Justice League by adding Whedon to the mix. While the stage of a darker, grittier universe was already set, the studio wanted to make it a fun Avenger-Esque lighthearted movie. The result – Whedon delivered a patchy, aesthetically divided, uneven movie.

Snyder gave Cyborg a dark story arc. By the time Justice League came out Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman were already introduced, meaning, Snyder had to win over audience with Cyborg, Falsh and Aquaman. The director intended Justice League to be an origin story for Cyborg. According to Fisher, Snyder wanted to give people with disability some representation by showcasing Cyborg initially being uncomfortable being seen in public.
This wasn’t working well with light and fun theme WB wanted. Reports have claimed the top brass wanted justice League significantly shorter while Snyder had a 3 and half hour cut ready. When Whedon took the ropes from Snyder he significantly cut down Cyborg’s character arc. Actor Ray Fisher revealed recently that except one shot all the Cyborg scenes were reshot. But all that is about to change.
Victor Stone’s True Arc
Cyborg aka Victor Stone got in a car crash at a young age and his father experimented on him to save whatever he could. In the Justice League, none of it happened, what Whedon gave was a retooled ghost of a fan favourite character. Finally, Snyder is set to redeem Cyborg.

Per Snyder, ‘Cyborg is the heart’ of his Justice League story. Fans have already seen array of new shots in the trailer that the director restored. We already saw Victor playing football in one of the clips. We also saw him in the backdrop of Joker and Batman’s conversation in the Knightmare sequence.
Also the director confirmed that he’d like to set the movie on fire than using a single frame shot by Joss Whedon. Meaning the entire tragic backstory would be restored for the Snyder Cut and none of the ‘boyeah’ shots will be included. With Zack Snyder’s Justice league fans will finally understand the true extent and powers of Cyborg. Though he’ll be too young to go against Superman, but his potentially god like powers needs a better explanation.
With finally, Cyborg’s arc being restored Snyder Cut will truly become a new movie.
