New Updated Black and White Trailer
The new or shall we say updated trailer created a lot of buzz but honestly it’s the same trailer in Black and White. Snyder in a previous interview mentioned the importance of the Black and White colour scheme. He said,
My ideal version of the movie is the black-and-white IMAX version of the movie. That, to me, is the most fan-centric, most pure, most Justice League experience. Because that’s how I lived with the movie for two years, in black and white.
The initial trailer reaction of most of the YouTubers was ‘is it the same trailer in black and white?’. Further, the trailer brought a new name for the Snyder Cut. The HBO Max version is now dubbed Justice League: Director’s Cut. A couple of shots that’s been added to the trailer that showcases Cyborg, Batmobile, Darkseid in its full glory and Amazonian Queen charging in the battlefield. And of course Superman’s hologram!
Snyder broke down the trailer for the fans but there was nothing new that we didn’t know already. While there’s nothing wrong with an updated trailer. Maybe fans have become acquainted to get new exciting details each time Zack Snyder decides to interact with them.
Furthermore, Snyder has declared that the assembly cut of the Justice League is locked down meaning the four episodes are locked in and now the team is only working on finalizing the VFX. The new Steppenwolf design is mean and much detailed. He has been further replaced in one of the shots with Darkseid. Cyborg’s back story is shown in an additional shot and Flash’s speed force is seen in another.
Why The Original Trailer Was Taken Down?
Back in August Zack Snyder Gave us the first official trailer for his Justice League cut during DC FanDome event. Fans went gaga over his vision and by watching their struggle finally coming to culmination. The trailer was set to Leonard Cohen’s famous track Hallelujah that Snyder is very fond of. This month the trailer had to be taken down due to the music’s copyright issue. The new trailer however contains the same song. To release the trailer again WB executives and Snyder took the opportunity of third year anniversary of JL theatrical cut release when the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement was incepted.
Snyder who is famous for cutting his own trailers worked on this one as well and hence, there was more expected out of it. While the hype is surreal trailer failed to match it. Nonetheless, social media is full of praises for the director’s cut and rightfully so. However, a bit of Jared Leto’s Joker or Robin’s foreshadowing wouldn’t have harmed the updated trailer or maybe something from additional photography would have helped.
While there wasn’t a need for a new trailer just three months down the line but the opportunity presented itself and WB and Snyder grabbed it. And how can one complaint when fans liked it but honestly, there’s nothing new with the trailer, not even the hype.
