Now that we know Peter Parker is a lot more than “just a boy” how would the production houses web his story? Is there fame waiting for the superhero at the doorstep of MCU Phase 4?

Sony and Disney have recently agreed to work together on the new Spider-Man movie. This new movie of Spider-Man will be different from what Sony could ever have done on its own with the character. This is because of the post-credit scene from ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ that delivered Peter’s secret identity is revealed by J. Jonah Jameson of The Daily Bugle.net. J. Jonah Jameson used doctored footage of Quentin Beck (Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal) to out Peter Parker to the public as Spider-Man.
Coming out of the costume
As fans remember, the last Superhero who revealed his identity in front of the public in the movie was Iron man. Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark declared, “I am Iron Man” in the original MCU film. That revelation gave him more fame in further movies. But Peter Parker’s revelation will most likely see him become a fugitive. It would be interesting to see how Marvel and Sony address this.
The new Spider-Man movie is set for its release on August 16, 2021. Meanwhile, Sony will continue to build its own Spider-verse that focuses on Spider-Man villains (like Venom) and sequels and spin-offs to the successful animated film ‘Into the Spiderverse’.
The Mystery of Mysterio
In the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ movie we had both a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene. And both of them were unusually key to enjoying the film. At the mid-credits scene Peter Parker is taking his lady-friend Mary Jane (Zendaya) out for a pretty terrifying-looking web-swing around New York City. Just minutes later, completing his swing with MJ, both of them have their attention diverted thanks to a news broadcast. A video clip has surfaced from the last confrontation between Spidey and Mysterio (Far From Home’s seeming hero, who revealed himself as a villain with a secret agenda earlier in the film).
Mysterio claims Spidey “says he’s going to be the new Iron Man,” implying Spidey murdered Mysterio out of jealousy because Mysterio was stepping up into that role. And then he outs Spider-Man as Peter Parker. The second post-credit sequence has real Nick Fury sitting in an immense alien spacecraft. This might hint at a conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls; this time we see Fury serving as a cosmic defender of Earth.
Comics versus MCU
Now Spider-Man has been framed for murder, his life has turned upside down for the upcoming Phase 4. The scene marks the glorious return of Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. There’s his buddy, Ned, and Tony Stark (well, not anymore, RIP), and, as of the very last scene in his debut movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, even Aunt May knows his super-secret.
But in Marvel Comics, Spider-Man’s secret identity is almost always a very well-kept secret. Except for the one time it wasn’t
It looks like Spider-Man of MCU is already ahead of the comic books’ character in letting the cat out of the bag in regards to his identity. Spider-Man’s identity has never been revealed before ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. Only his friends and mentors knew that he is Spider-Man.
The NYC where Peter Parker is Spider-Man
Now that the cat is out of the bag, and Spider-Man’s identity is no longer hidden from anyone, the script to the famous series lies in great ambiguity. One thing is for sure, the people close to him (like May, Ned, Mary Jane, and probably his classmates) will be in a lot of danger.
But with that, we will get to see the same thing that always happens. Spider-Man enemies will try to hurt his friends and family and he will be saving them. Though many things will change and fans would have got to see some new twists thanks to the revelation, but if we see the bigger picture, we will be served with the same old movie plot.
