Zack Snyder is looking to redeem everything he established in his initial DCEU vision including the Joker
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is hands down a phenomenon fandom or Hollywood has never seen before. With the project spitting an exciting development on daily basis the fans are hooked. Now that Jared Leto’s Joker has joined the cast of the four-part miniseries the fans are hyped more than ever. And everyone has but one question on their mind – what part does Joker play in the Snyder Cut?
Redemption of Jared Leto’s Joker
The half baked, barely there, Joker in the Suicide Squad wasn’t a fault on Leto’s or director David Ayer’s part. The mistreatment and creative confusion with the character stems from Warner Bros’ meddling in the original vision of the director. Much like how Darkseid and Desaad were cut from the Justice League, Joker was mistreated in the Suicide Squad.

Actor Jared Leto has openly spoken about the mistreatment of his Joker along with the fans. However, Snyder is set to redeem the character in his director’s cut of Justice League. Recent leaks point to a clean look for Joker this time around. Geek World Wide revealed that Joker won’t have tattoos or capped teeth and also he’ll have longer locks as opposed to the sleek back look. Additionally, Snyder revealed to Grace Randolph that his’ would be a ‘road weary’ Joker.
The Snyder Cut gives Jared Leto’s Joker a separate identity and clean slate to work on. The actor was last seen in the character about four years back. Initially a Joker movie was on the charts with Jared Leto which got scrapped after failure of theatrical cut of justice League. Further, WB came out with 2019s Joker with Joaquin Phoenix closing the door for any redemption of Leto’s version up till now.
How Jared Leto Fits in the Snyder Cut?
Eagle-eyed fans spotted a Joker Easter egg in the official trailer of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in August. It was thought to be a nod to the character and to the expanse that could have been DCEU. Nonetheless, the addition of Leto in the cast of Snyder Cut brought an array of speculations. Recently, Snyder revealed the experience of additional photography during the COVID and said, “It was fun having a segment of the band together for this little vignette, and working with Jared Leto was really amazing. His attention to detail and he really cares a lot about being awesome and so, you know, it was fun.” This ‘little vignette’ Snyder revealed stands close to four minutes of the entire film and the only thing he added outside of his original plans.
Talking about working with rest of the cast he said, “Everyone did an amazing level, and even trying to shoot in COVID is you know is a bit of a deal, but everyone brought huge A-game and really wanted to be cool.”
As cool as it sounds, fans are eagerly waiting for the Joker to show up and there are a couple of speculations going on in the fandom. Some of them could be
Batman Vs Joker
We could get to see Joker and Batman finally come face to face during the four-part series. The ‘Ha Ha Ha Joke Is On You’ Easter Egg needs to come to fruition at some point and is highly anticipated.
Fans are also speculating to finally see how Robin dies in the Snyder Cut. Some fans have theorized that the Boy Wonder was killed in Wayne Manor and that’s why we see a burnt one at the end of the theatrical cut.
The Joker card seen in the trailer was previously used as an Easter egg on the barrel of Batman’s rifle in the Knightmare sequence. Which almost suggest that the Dark Knight has taken a trophy having defeated his most famous enemy. To see Joker in the Knightmare sequence is quite plausible as his addition to saving the day with the rest of the cast would have taken more screen time. While we are yet to see what Jared Leto’s Joker exactly does in the Snyder Cut we are sure he’ll be redeemed for sure!
