As the hype around Zack Snyder’s Justice League is soaring with each day, DCEU fans now want to know what future plan the director has for the Universe. But does he have any?
Zack Snyder released a Black and white version of Snyder Cut trailer on the anniversary of Justice league theatrical release. There has been a lot of exciting developments like the addition of Jered Leto’s Joker in the cast. The foreshadowing of the Robin costume, additional photography and more. However, in 2015 when the JL was announced; it was supposed to be a trilogy. A trilogy in a five-movie arc that began with Man of Steel in 2013. But then in 2016, Zack Snyder faced a personal loss and had to step down as the director of Justice League. A lot of media outlets like Collider reported at that time that Zack Snyder did not willingly step down.
All in all, with the Joss Wheadon Justice League fiasco and the germination of the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement, WB seemed to be like a deer in the headlights. It took a whole management reshuffle and AT&T to bring WB and DCEU on the right path.
WB has been diligently working on undoing the mistakes of the past. The studio invested $70 million into the Snyder Cut with reshoots and VFX work to finish the project. It is also giving Snyder a free hand creatively. All these actions point in one direction that the studio certainly wants to retain the Snyder brand for its HBO Max platform. But what future does Zack Snyder have in the DCEU after Justice League?
Why is Zack Snyder more than Justice League for WB?
Two eras divide the history of Comic Book movies. The first era was pre-Nolan when the movies were bright, cheery, gullible, and targeted to a young audience. Then in 2005, Christopher Nolan brought Batman Begins to the world. A superhero who was dark, gritty, emotionally broken, and struggling. The Batman trilogy brought a paradigm shift in the way comic book movies are interpreted.
After the Dark Knight Rises released, WB wanted to shift to a full-on cinematic universe. Christopher Nolan took the back seat and pushed Zack Snyder to helm the creation of this Universe. Zack launched the DCEU with Man Of Steel and continued until 2017. Now, Zack Snyder is back at the helm of the Universe. This time WB is giving a free hand to the director and complete creative freedom. It could just not be about one project! It is more about keeping a name like Zack Snyder for themselves. Just like Nolan, Snyder comes with a niche. With the newfound fan following and the attached sentiment of the viewers, Zack Snyder is just too big a brand to pass on.

Snyder’s Future Projects In DCEU
As reported by IGN, Zack Snyder and WB are contemplating the possibility of a Justice League sequel. It would mean that maybe Zack gets the opportunity to complete his story arc. But, it all seems very far-fetched because, as per Screen Rant, Zack Snyder has debunked the theory of a sequel.
I don’t have any expectation that there would be more movies than this. If that happened, that would be amazing — but that bridge is far away. Frankly, I’m cool.
Zack Snyder
Though heartbreaking, it might be true at the moment. Snyder’s future in the DCEU will rely heavily on the response his cut of Justice League gets next year. But, even if it doesn’t go as planned, one thing is for sure: Zack Snyder will have his fingerprints over everything that will happen in the Universe from here on. There have been talks of Ben Affleck returning as Batman and Snyder expressing his desire to make a live-action Dark Knight Rises along with rumours about Man of Steel 2, but for now, all eyes are on 2021.
If all goes well, we may see Zack back behind the cameras. After the announcement of Snyder Cut this year, and WB’s soaring ambitions Snyder’s involvement is bound to happen in DCEU. He is already an executive producer on the Green Lantern show.
