Disney+ WandaVision series is all set to introduce the Young Avengers into the MCU starting with their own kids, here’s how
By all intents and indications, it is clear that Marvel Studios is going to fly various characters heading into Phase 4. Inculcating a more substantial amount of diversity and creative freedom, the new phase is set to feature more cosmic cinematic universe.
With productions like The Eternals and WandaVision leading the plot introduction; anyone suffering from superhero fatigue might need to brace up for what’s coming!
After Avengers: Endgame ended the run of some OG Avengers, it’s clear the MCU is ready to bring in new characters and story arcs. Albeit a younger generation!
The line up of movies for MCU Phase 4 introduces younger heroes at different points, ultimately leading up to the creation of a Young Avengers team.
The WandaVision Disney+ Setup
WandaVision release is pushed back due to the Coronavirus pandemic from 2020 to 2021. The series will explore the relationship between Scarlet Witch and Vision during their time away from the Avengers.
It will also tie directly into Doctor Strange’s sequel Multiverse of Madness. Marvel’s Super Bowl Ad, served different scenes from upcoming series. Scenes from WandaVision showed the lovebirds going through a series of timelines.
One particular scene shows Wanda and Vision staring down at two cradles with utter surprise. A strong indication that Wanda’s children could be making their MCU debut in the series.
In the House of M comics, Wanda finds a way for them to have children. While there is a 30-year catalogue of plot activity to draw from, it is unlikely that Marvel would tow that line for the series.
However, with rumours about a baby casting call for the WandaVision series, the show could usher in their children; Tommy Shepherd (Speed) and Billy Kaplan (Wiccan).
The Young Avengers
Further, apart from growing up to become members of the Young Avengers. Wiccan, her son, is in a relationship with a Skrull known as Hulkling. Although it is not certain how and when Hulkling will be joining the MCU, his close relationship with Wiccan in the comics suggests that he won’t be far behind.
This makes sense given, in the movies Skrulls aren’t considered the enemy anymore. Furthermore, with S.W.O.R.D being introduced in the series, makes it more likely Hulkling will be joining the MCU soon.
Monica Rambeau’s MCU Future
Adult Monica Rambeau is also set to feature in the upcoming WandaVision and can be part of Young Avengers lineup. With her character depth and story arc in the comic, the studio could be lining Rambeau up to join the Young Avengers team as well.
While some members of the Young Avengers team aren’t in foresight, couple of them has already been introduced. Infinity War introduced an older version of Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie while Hawkeye’s series will introduce Kate Bishop. Both of them are the prominent members of the Young Avengers.
Further, Ms Marvel, member of the champions, is getting her own series on Disney+. It won’t be out of place to suggest Marvel Studios could be looking at adding her to the Young Avengers.
With the premiere of WandaVision pushed forward to spring of 2021. Marvel had to push forward the entire phase to avoid disrupting the cause of events.
WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.
