The latest WandaVision leaks is about the arrival of Magneto. And that he is going to have a cameo in WandaVision episode 8.
The latest anonymous 4chan and Reddit leaks about WandaVision say that the arrival of Magneto is imminent. And there is a comic debate about Magento being Wanda’s father. But WandaVision shares a powerful scene featuring Wanda with Magento in the X-Men movies; Hence the speculation.
Watch: Michael Fassbender’s Magneto Takes Control of the Missiles| X-Men First Class
Reports were already making rounds about Michael Fassbender’s cameo but there was no way to say how. Until now. A major 4chan leak suggests that in the upcoming episodes, Pietro and Monica Will team up against Agatha and Wanda. And at one point in time, Wanda will access Pietro’s memories and it will show Michael Fassbender’s Magneto (from a previous movie scene). Now, let us not get ahead of ourselves but take it slow. It seems highly unlikely that a scene from a previous movie from before the Marvel-Fox deal will be shown to us.
Wanda-Magneto Relation in the MCU
Scarlett Witch and Magneto have a long complicated relationship history. And there are various versions to it in the comics. However, if we look into WandaVision, there is no real hint or mention that speaks to Magneto, other than Pietro. After all, we do remember X-Men: Apocalypse and that Petro reveals himself as Magneto’s son. Now if the same Pietro (Evan Peters) is here in Westview, and claims to be Wanda’s brother, then Magneto must be Wanda’s father too.
Then again, we doubt if it is Pietro for real, now that we know that it was Agnes (AKA Agatha Harkness) who was “behind” him. However, knowing that Marvel and Fox have cracked a deal and this is what brings Evan Peters’ Pietro to WandaVision, we cannot totally ignore Magneto’s cameo.
Scene-Similarity between WandaVision & X-Men
If we are to connect Magneto and Wanda, we can connect them through three specific scenes, two from X-Men movies and one from WandaVision. The first scene is from X-Men (2000), where Magneto (Ian McKellen) turns the guns towards the police during their getaway. “You homo sapiens and your guns”, he says.
Next, we have the scene from X-Men: First Class (2011). The scene, towards the end of the movie, shows Magneto (Michael Fassbender) taking control of the missiles that were fired on them by “Americans…Soviets…Humans.”
Finally, we have Wanda in WandaVision Episode 5. When she discovers the SWORD drone, she wrecks it and comes out with it herself. At the moment, all the agents have their guns targeted at her (we can see the lasers on her). And just before she turns to leave, with a flick of her wrist, she manipulates the minds of all the agents so that they turn their guns towards Hayward. It is one of the coolest scenes of the episode and the show.
So, as you see these 3 scenes are very similar. And what if the last scene was intentionally made to represent the previous two? We can never tell, it is, after all, Marvel.
Kevin Feigi’s Magneto
The reason for this amalgamation of these universes is compelling. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, was also the co-producer for X-Men 2 (2003) and an executive producer for X-Men 3(2006). So, to bring together the Avengers and X-Men might have been his dream for a long time. This allows him to unify the universes in a subtle way.
Michael Fassbender in the MCU
Michael Fassbender should be re-cast as Magneto for the sole reason that he is great at it. That Fox chose him to replace Ian McKellen, for a role which he nailed so brilliantly, speaks a lot. And not to mention, re-casting Michael won’t be a trouble because Magneto is still alive, unlike Hugh Jackman’s Logan (Wolverine).
And after Paul Bettany’s words to Esquire, “Magneto” got trending on twitter. Here’s what he said: “There is one character that has not been revealed and it is very exciting, it’s an actor I’ve longed to work with all of my life. We have some amazing scenes together, and the chemistry between us is, I think, extraordinary, and it was just fireworks on set. So I’m really excited for people to see that stuff.” Who is it, really? Stop with the teasing, Marvel.
