In the new Justice League Zack Snyder gives all the love back to fans in form of various Easter Eggs and add on cameos
It’s exactly a month until Zack Snyder’s Justice League hits HBO Max and an extended trailer with a couple of exciting new reveals of the cast was DC’s Valentine’s day gift for their fans. The new trailer of the four-hour saga revealed much-expected additions like Darkseid and DeSaad, but it also had a few surprise cameo teasers as well. Thankfully, if you were worried Snyder might make the movie in black and white, the new trailer offers fresh new score in colour.
The Bells of Impending Doom
The trailer opens in typical Snyder fashion; darkly themed scenes that signify a certain impending doom. As Batman (Ben Affleck) rallies to put a team together to stop an extra-terrestrial critical level attack, we also get to see the magnitude of the attacking force. The trailer finally gives us a look at the villains Snyder included. Darkseid is seen in one clip, while Steppenwolf is seen in another clip kneeling to Granny Goodness and DeSaad. The CGI laden fight scenes show Darkseid’s army, teasing extensive sequences of intense battle.
Snyder initially intended to use sound score from a Junkie XL back in 2017 before he quit production of the movie. When Whedon took over, the sound score was part of the numerous parts to hit the bin. The sound score opens the trailer up with a clip of a groaning Superman who looks like he’s getting super angry. Other members of the “alliance” Batman is putting together also appear in various clips. The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg are all seen in various battles sequences.

The Resistance Against Darkseid
Hippolyta and the Amazon kingdom of Themyscira are also seen in a clip which suggests that they would also be involved in the resistance army against Darkseid and his Apokolyptic army. Snyder had previously expressed intent in developing the backstory of Cyborg and The Flash along the line, and several clips in the trailer seem to suggest so.
Other than the fine combo of grey and brown graphic aesthetics, the major highlights of the trailer remain the interesting new cameos and spot-on lines from both past and present.
Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is set to have a more prominent role in Snyders version. In the 2017 version, he was relegated to the post credit scenes. A picture of Jonathan Kent is also seen in another clip teasing a cameo appearance from him.
‘We Live in a Society’ – Joker
As aesthetically satisfying as the trailer was, the best part came at the very end. “We live in a society”, echoed the shrill voice. And there was The Joker. Perched on a ledge, Jared Leto’s Joker turned around to face Batman – flanked by a certain Cyborg.
The rave the Joker’s line caused on social media revealed the major things that fans really care about as they anticipate the four hour cut. As much as there are going to be a lot more mind blowing and exhilarating CGI fight sequences, the major plot of the movie isn’t different from the 2017 version. Therefore, making sure that the scenes of these cast additions – especially the Joker – are solid would-be part of Snyder’s plans.
The trailer is set to premiere on the HBO Max streaming service on March 18. It was recently given an R-rating due to the expected high level of profanity and violence.
