Spider-Man’s presence is significant in Tony Stark’s emotionally inadequate life, and his influence on Iron Man was crucial to what happened at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
Tony Stark and Peter Parker aka Spiderman shared an independent and profound connection in the Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe. They both share an adorable ‘father-son’ sort of relationship that became the beating heart of the MCU. From Captain America: Civil War to Spider-Man: Far From Home, we see Peter learn the ways of the superhero and eventually become an Avenger.
Tony Stark and Peter Parker first appeared in Captain America: Civil War. There is a scene in which Tony goes to meet Peter and motivates him to be a superhero. It seems that Stark saw something in Parker which made him take the young vigilante under his guidance. Tony asked, “Why are you doing this? I gotta know. What’s your M.O.? What gets you out of that twin bed in the morning?”

To this Peter explained, “When you can do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.” The look Tony gives Peter aka Spiderman after he says this, tells us everything we need to know about their relationship. Now that Tony Stark is dead, Spiderman is left alone and we saw him missing Tony in Spiderman: Far from Home.
Let’s see how the relationship between Tony Stark and Spiderman grew up and went a little too far
The Building of a Profound Connection
After Spiderman’s first appearance in the Civil War, his bond with Tony Stark started to build. The relationship between them developed into something stronger and more advisory when Spider-Man: Homecoming decided to include Iron Man aka Tony Stark in its story. Parker is trying to balance his normal life with a fledgling career as a superhero.
Spider-Man first comes onto Tony Stark’s radar, wearing a homemade suit. Tony gave him a special suit with tech upgrades that help him to be a better-equipped superhero. He has many features like webbed semi-wings, adjustable eye lenses and an artificial intelligence named Karen. With that Tony starts to not only become more concerned with Peter Parker’s future, he also begins learning how to become somewhat of a parental figure to him.
Spiderman ready for the fight
Peter thinks he’s ready to take the training wheels off and Tony wants to make sure they’re firmly on. When Peter ignores Tony, he asks for the Spider-Man suit back. Peter says, “You don’t understand, I’m nothing without this suit!” and Tony tells him, “If you’re nothing without that suit, then you shouldn’t have it.”
Later Tony realizes about the importance of developing a father-son relationship and says, “Sorry I took your suit. I mean, you had it coming. Actually, it turns out it was the perfect sort of tough love moment that you needed, to urge you on, right?” Spiderman goes after the bad guys and goes against Tony’s
wishes. That disappointed Tony and pushed Peter’s relationship with him to a
breaking point. However, in the end, he proves himself. Peter manages to bring
the Vulture to justice and save people in the process. After that Tony
eventually invites Peter to join the Avengers. During Avengers: Infinity War, Tony develops newfound respect and confidence in Peter’s abilities. Hence, he offers Spiderman a shot at big-time glory. It was the first important step in pushing Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s mentor relationship into the right place to really take off. In Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos’ army comes to New York, he tries to fight. But Tony, wanting him to stay safe, tells him to go home to Aunt May as he and Doctor Strange board the Q-Ship for Titan. Despite Tony’s warning, Peter tags along with Tony Stark to rescue Doctor Strange in the prelude to Avengers: Endgame. Spiderman proves himself to be a true hero. After Thanos snapped, there was nothing he could do to prevent himself from existence. Peter’s dusting was more elongated than the rest. He said, “Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good.” That made Tony form a deep connection with Spiderman. He also motioned his relationship with him. If it wasn’t for his relationship with Peter Parker, Tony Stark may not have taken the journey those Avengers: Endgame led him into. At last, Tony Stark sacrificed his life for the sake of the universe. Peter Parker aka Spiderman found himself occupying the same sort of headspace. However, without Tony, Peter becomes unsure about being an Avenger anymore in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
