Eagle-eyed fans have spotted many Spider-Man Easter eggs in upcoming movies Morbius and Venom. But the most substantial proof of the existence of a Spider-Man Vs Venom sequence comes from actor Tom Hardy himself
Tom Hardy as Venom was probably one of the most divisive SPUMC movies in recent years. The villain who was transformed into an anti-hero character was loved by viewers as it returned an unexpected 850 million in box office sales worldwide.
It was ironically also at the end of a backlash from critics for leaving out one of the most vital pieces to the jigsaw of the Venom story- his connection to Spiderman.
The Dark Tale of Sony’s Venom
2018’s Venom was a re-narration of the origin story of one of Peter Parker’s most famous rivals. The deal between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures provided an opportunity to correct the previous failed attempt at adapting Venom to the big screen in the last of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. The remake does away with most of the character’s ties with the Spider-Man folklore and focuses on Venom’s connection with other symbiotes.

Contrary to his comic book counterpart, who merges with Venom due to his animosity against Peter Parker. This adaptation of Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) gets possessed by the alien parasite when he tries to uncover and expose illegal human trials developed by a bio-engineering corporation.
This seemed a little risky from Sony Pictures because Venom’s comic book debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #300, presented the anti-hero as a character who could only piggy-back off the life and world of Spiderman due to their similarities. With so many links between them, it wouldn’t seem right – especially for Venom – to develop their storylines far apart.
Watch: Venom (2018) ‘We are Venom’ Scene
Although the first Venom movie did very well without Peter Parker, one would expect them to cross paths in the MCU at some point.
Therefore when plans to roll out a Venom sequel was on the ropes, it was only befitting that Sony Pictures were bent on giving fans and critics alike what they craved for; a Spiderman appearance in Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Vs Tom Hardy’s Venom
No one is certain of the extent of the presence and screen time Tom Holland’s Spiderman will have in the universe of Tom Hardy’s Venom. From the subtitle of the Venom sequel (Let There Be Carnage) as well as the post-credit scene of the first venom, we know that Carnage- also known as Cletus Kasady- is going to play a more central villain-esque role in the movie. But there are lots of fan theories about Peter Parker’s role in the movie.
The best leak so far comes from actor Tom Hardy himself who posted a Venom and Spider-Man picture to his Instgram stories and soon deleted it.
One fan theory suggests the two characters meet when Venom is on a mission to stop Carnage from raining carnage on the planet- no pun intended. Although we expect them to end up becoming partners somehow.
It’s common knowledge that quite a number of times, and expectedly so, Venom and Spider-Man are at odds, yet every once in a while they become shaky allies when there’s a much larger threat to be dealt with. There’s a huge possibility that this could be the case as we could see an unlikely alliance between these two archenemies for the sake of defeating the greater evil; in this case, Carnage.
Whatever Marvel Studios and Sony decide to serve in this Andy Serkis directed the second instalment of Venom it’s hard to go wrong with such a wide array of comic content to choose from. But as uncertain as what exactly Peter Parker’s role in this reprise would be. One thing is absolutely certain; Sony would be literally printing dollars if they make sure there’s a face-off between Venom and his foe in Spider-Man.
