Another reason why the makers cast Chris Pratt and Tom Holland for Onward is that while both actors are great comedians, they are also really comfortable doing real emotional scenes, which are apparently abundant in the film.
There is also a certainty that with Onward’ Pixar is looking at an emotional end, which will incredibly solidify Pratt and Holland as an on-screen pairing that audience likes. This too will in turn help Marvel be sure of the pairing garnering audience if and when they crossover into each other’s films.
