Glen Powell, co-star of Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick, recently posted a short video on Instagram. In that video, he was seen celebrating his Pilot license after flying for the first time. Glen Powell highlighted “Pilot License” in the caption of the video, and then he wrote to convey his excitement, “This is a video of me after my first solo flight. It’s a tradition in the Aviation community for your instructor to tear away your shirt signifying the teacher’s finally off your back.”
He continued “My instructor @wallysaygers is just following the ceremony, he doesn’t rip off my clothes after every ceremony.” It shows how excited Glen is to be a Pilot. Though, the sad thing is it happened after he shoot for Top Gun: Maverick.

“After wrapping a shooting day, Tom would rocket off into the sunset in his P-51 while I would limply shuffle into the cast van. The wings were just so much cooler then the wheels….” The actor continued, and he thanked Tom Cruise for being his mentor and gifting him the Pilot training, “….and for Christmas, tom bought me an iPad with my flight school downloaded and prepared. And yesterday, after months of flying, studying and testing…. I’m the real deal.”
No doubt Tom Cruise is the best co-star one can ever dream of. The man flies to the sets and seems like he wants others to do the same.
