Gorr the God Butcher in Marvel Comics
Debuting in 2012’s Thor: God of Thunder #2, Gorr was created by artist Esad Ribic and writer Jason Aaron. Born on a planet that was more of a wasteland, Gorr lost his wife Arra in an earthquake. He further lost the rest of his children due to the planet’s harsh nature. Gorr was finally cast out of his society for not believing in gods. However, this was when he evidenced the fall of a god from the sky. Enraged, he killed the god and claimed his weapon, the Necrosword.
With this, Gorr set forth on his journey of “butchering” gods. There was also a point in time when he laid claim to the “Pool of Forevers.” It gave him access to all the time streams. What’s intriguing about Aaron’s storyline is that it deals with not one Thor but three: A young Thor belonging to the 9th century, a modern-day Thor of the Avengers, who has been of late been deemed unworthy and lost his hammer, and an ancient Thor reigning over Asgard. When Gorr planned to wipe out all the gods from every time stream ever by detonating his Godbomb, it took all the three Thors to stop him. So, with at least three different time streams involved, director Taika Waititi does have a lot to experiment with. We have already seen how great he is through his last venture Thor: Ragnarok. But there is another question is sounds too cool to not ask: will Thor 4 involve time travel then?

Gorr and his Movie-Comic Connection
There is another thing to give a thought. On one hand, we have Aaron’s unworthy-Thor storyline. On the other, we have reports that in Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman, AKA Jane Foster, will lift Mjolnir. Also, Natalie has stated that the movie will be “based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor.” This is an interesting connection and a “worthy” one for MCU at that.
Christian Bale in the MCU
Taika Waititi is known for his humor in his films and for someone like the “swear-to-me” Christian Bale to walk into the project helmed by Waititi will make them a pair of “cosmic proportions”. Christian Bale is very well-known for his physical transformation to further delve into his characters.
His menacing portrayal as the dark knight is a valid proof of this. So, him playing a villain in the MCU certainly makes us impatient and wait to see what kind of transformation he has up his sleeves as Gorr, the God Butcher to fight Thor, the God of Thunder. One thing is for sure, we are in for some “Godly” face-off.
