Love and Thunder is adding big names to the cast every day and seems like it’s going to be an action-packed addition to Thor franchise
Chris Hemsworth is the only OG Avenger who is getting his fourth run in a standalone movie. Initially, the weakest, now the Thor franchise is helmed by New Zealand based director Taika Waititi. Together, Waititi and Hemsworth reinvented the MCU’s Thor franchise in its third instalment Ragnarock. The movie that served the prelude for Infinity War also gave us fun-loving light-hearted Lord of Thunder departing from the Shakespearean tone. The character arch was further enhanced by the Russo brothers in Avenger: Endgame where they gave us a PTSD ridden ‘Fat Thor.’ And now Waititi is set to reinvent Thor again in MCU Phase 4.
Its The Story Of Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor
The premise of Thor: Love and Thunder is definitely intergalactic as we see the God of Thunder leaving Earth with the Guardians of The Galaxy at the end of Endgame. So ideally the movie will pick up from where it left off. This is further confirmed by recent presence of Chris Pratt on sets of Thor which is shooting in Australia at the moment.
Superhero veteran actor Christian Bale is set to be the antagonist of the movie in an undisclosed role. He too was spotted in Australia while Hemsworth’s Instagram confirmed the team getting together. Actor Tessa Thompson who was introduced as Valkyrie in MCU in Ragnarock had a slip of tongue that confirmed Bale’s presence in the movie.
We recently saw Chris Hemsworth beefing up for donning the Red cape again in the sequel so we can rest assured that Thor is indeed going to lose weight in this iteration. However, Thor Love and Thunder isn’t about Hemsworth’s Thor rather it is about Jane Foster who goes by the name ‘Mighty Thor’ in the MCU as the director confirmed.
Actor Natalie Portman is set to revive her character as Jane Foster after a long time I the MCU. She is the Thor in Love and Thunder. The actor in a previous interview confirmed that Jane indeed suffers from cancer in the movie.
Many fans have speculated The Mighty Thor storyline would be in play and it indeed is. Portman will be yielding the hammer in this sequel.

Nonetheless, another actor has been added to the mix. And it’s none other than Vin Diesel. The actor is part of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast and voice fan favourite Groot! Another notable actor who is part of the GoTG crew in a similar fashion is Rock Raccoon’s voice by actor Bradley Cooper. Both Diesel and Cooper have done impeccable work by far as the part of Avengers during the Infinity Saga. However, none has been present in person on sets.
A recent leak showed actor Vin Diesel arriving in Sydney, Australia. So the question is if he doesn’t provide motion capture for Groot what is he doing there? And the answer lies in his months old comment about ‘Alpha Groot.’
In a previous interview Diesel has shed some light on the character by saying, “The Groot that we’re going to is Alpha Groot. You’re gonna lose your mind when you see Alpha Groot.” However, GoTG director James Gunn had debunked the Alpha Groot theory at the time.
Now it looks like Diesel was pointing to his presence in Thor franchise. Further, according to notable scooper, Daniel Richtman “Diesel is going to provide motion capture for Groot”. Meaning we might actually see the bigger stronger version of Groot in the upcoming phase.
With an ensemble cast of the likes of Hemsworth, Bale and now Vin Diesel, Taika Waititi seems to be concocting an action-packed movie for us.
