The paradox of Flash can bring Robert Pattinson, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton as Batman, together.
Both DC and Marvel have been acing the Multiverse concept in their comics for years. Now, both the studios are flirting with the Multiverse concept in their cinematic universes. Marvel Studios has already announced Multiverse in the title for their next Doctor Strange instalment and is also developing a rumoured Spider-verse. Whereas WB owned DC has played a successful hand with Crisis on the Infinite Earth in their TV universe. Furthermore, DC made a massive Multiverse announcement in The Flash 2022 during their FanDome event.
Hence WB’s problematic DC Universe is all over the news for the right reasons this time. 2020 is proving to be the best year for fans since Man of Steel released in 2013. After struggling to strike a chord with their fans, WB seems to have finally got it right. WB is now looking to cash-in with its iconic heroes. And rightly so, they begin with multiple Bat-men.
Back in 2016, Ben Affleck made his debut as the official Dark Knight of the Zack Snyder’s envisioned DCEU. Then the 2017 Justice League fiasco brought his term as Batman to a halt. Recently, Zack Snyder has brought back Batfleck for additional photography in his version of the Justice League for HBO Max. Further, Ben Affleck is also in a prominent role as Batman in the upcoming The Flash in 2022.
The excitement doesn’t stop here. Not just Ben Affleck, but even Michael Keaton is reported to reprise his version of the Batman in the upcoming Flash. Keaton has been donned the black cape twice, first in 1989 The Batman and then in 1992 Batman Returns. Though, Keaton’s Batman was succeeded by the likes of Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale. Keaton seems to be the choice to play the role of an older Bruce Wayne, along with a middle-aged Bruce version of Ben Affleck.
Watch: Robert Pattinson Talks ‘The Batman’
For 2022 The Batman Matt Reeves launched Robert Pattison as Vengence during the FanDome event. The newest addition to the coveted club of black cowls is Robert Pattinson. The Twilight actor has impressed the world of Bat-fans with the teaser of his Batman portrayal. Matt Reeves, who is helming this project, is set to have an independent noir take on the character. Post DC FanDome he took to Twitter to confirm that indeed Robert Pattinson’s Batman is part of DC Universe.
The Paradox of Flashpoint
In DC FanDome’s Flash panel, Ezra Miller and Director Andy Muschietti affirmed that Flash will take inspiration from the iconic Flashpoint Paradox storyline. This means that there is no limit to what WB can do with the narration. WB may be counting on Barry Alan to run up to Battinson’s universe.
While you may say its a long shot, photos from Chicago set of The Batman points at a DCEU Easter egg. Fox32’s Jake Hamilton posted a picture that features a familiar Flash symbol.
This means WB has left the trail for The Flash to induct Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the DCEU canon. It could possibly lead to three versions of Batman together in the same frame. Time Travel and multiverse concepts of Flashpoint provide with the opportunity to make this happen. It will acknowledge the existence of the multiverse in DCEU. As per a theory from Comicbook.com, The Flash can possibly include Robert Pattinson’s The Batman in the DCEU canon as an alternate Batman after the Flashpoint events.
Or maybe we are just being a little greedy, but one hope and wish for a sequence of all the three versions of Batman facing Leto and Joaquin as Joker! It will blow off the roof of theatres all around the world. And, DC fans will finally get what they deserve.
