The Current War Trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch and Nicholas Hoult bring forward the Edison vs Tesla rivalry
The Current War is an American historical drama film directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2017.

At the premier the movie was met with negative reviews from critics. The movie was dropped off from his original distributor, The Weinstein Company due to sexual abuse allegations on Harvey Weinstein.

The movie was bought by Lantern Entertainment (the successor of TWC), who then sold the domestic distribution rights to 101 Studios.

101 Studios released the new trailer “The Current War” which shows dramatic 19th century battle over electricity.
The trailer shows feud between Benedict Cumberbatch and Nicholas Hoult.

The movie focus on the journey of Thomas Edison played by Benedict Cumberbatch as he attempts to use his DC technology to introduce light to Manhattan.

But he is obstructed when businessman George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) and his partner Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult) rival the inventor with Tesla’s own AC electrical current.
In the teaser, Edison says, “This is a battle of the greatest minds of America,” to which Westinghouse threatens, “If you want to be remembered, it’s simple: Shoot a president. But if you prefer to have what I call a legacy, you leave the world a better place than you found it.”
The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Tom Holland, Katherine Waterston, Simon Manyonda, and Tuppence Middleton
The film is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2019, by 101 Studios.
