Disney and Lucasfilm have released the final trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and it shows a tagline saying, “The saga will end. The story lives forever”.
The Skywalker saga that started more than 40 years ago in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope is finally coming to an end. The trailer made its debut during ESPN’s Monday Night Football matchup between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.
The trailer of The Rise of Skywalker shows the final battle between the Resistance and the First Order. According to director J.J. Abrams, this will give the story a meaningful ending. Abrams said, “We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. We’re not screwing around.”
What does the trailer tell us about the movie?
In the trailer, we can see that Kylo Ren and Rey are preparing to face off in their final battle against one another. Other members of the Resistance, including Poe Dameron, Finn, and BB-8 also fight for the Universe’s future.
We will get to see the return of classic characters including Ian McDiarmid’s Palpatine and Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian.
The upcoming movie, The Rise of Skywalker’s trailer features Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and BB-8. The dramatic ending of the trailer depicts sweeping shots of battles atop ships on vast raging oceans. It also shows the characters leaping across canyons in tremendous jungles with their lightsabers.
Return of Anakin Skywalker
There has been a huge theory going on the return of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker. Also, the film title refers to the character who became Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith (2005). The Rise of Skywalker will not hit cinemas until 20th December 2019. But the fans now have a trailer since shooting began last year.
With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer, movie tickets have gone on sale for the last film in the series running since 1977. AMC Theaters is also offering a 27-hour marathon, which includes all nine films in the franchise.
Can Star Wars trump Avengers?
After seeing the presales on Atom Tickets it looks like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be a bigger hit than Avengers: Endgame after seeing the presales on Atom Tickets. The presale started shortly before the new trailer came out.
The Rise of Skywalker sold 45% more tickets in its first hour of pre-sales compared to the Endgame.
The Star War fans have been sharing theories about the upcoming movie. What they will get to see in the movie. This is not the first trailer of the film. The highlights were seen at the Disney fan gathering D23 in August. From there, fans got a glimpse of Rey’s double-bladed red lightsaber. There are also theories about whether Rey (Daisy Ridley) would turn to the dark side.
