Tony may have gone but his legacy will continue. Here are the upcoming MCU movies and shows that will uphold the legacy of Tony Stark.
Continuity is the base of the MCU. And one such character that has given us so much to grab on to, in terms of continuity, is Tony. One of the most influential MCU characters, he truly ‘paid for everything and designed everything and made everything look cooler.’ From sharing his tech to donating to the MIT September Foundation Grant to the Sokovia Accords, he tried to ensure a safer future for the earth in many ways. And MCU is doing all it can to continue Tony Stark’s legacy by showcasing its various aspects via the upcoming movies and shows.

Ironheart aka Riri Williams
Riri Williams is a teenage genius, much like Tony, who creates her advanced suit of armour. The very mention of her name in the MCU proves that Tony Stark and his legacy are not yet done with. The fact that her armour is the most advanced ‘since Tony’s,’ itself proves that Riri took inspiration from his design.
A very common theory says that Riri will be a relative of James Rhodes AKA Rhodey. This works well as Riri might have grown up admiring her uncle and his friend Tony. We all know that Rhodey took Tony’s suit in Iron-Man 2. And he also knows a lot about them. So, it might have been that Riri found interest in the suits, sneaked around and found out more about the armors, and made one for herself from the data.
Riri can even be discovered by an Avenger, maybe Rhodey, just like Spider-Man was by Tony. This could be a perfect way for MCU to pay homage to the legacy of Tony Stark. There is another suggestion. Marvel comics show that Riri was an MIT student. And we have seen Tony ‘approve all the projects along with funding them’ at his MIT presentation in Captain America: Civil War. So, it may be that Riri was one of those students. Her armour could also be discovered by people who are monitoring the unauthorized use of Stark tech. Since the announcement of the show, Rober Downey Jr’s presence is heavily rumoured. This can further lead to the other series related to the legacy of Tony Stark, MCU Armor Wars.
Armor Wars and Tony Stark
Throughout the Iron-Man trilogy along with other appearances alongside Tony, we have seen Rhodey play a significant role. However, Armor Wars will show him without Tony. Rhodey is the first choice as a character to carry forward Tony’s legacy. With Tony gone, it is Rhodey’s responsibility to ensure the safety of all the Stark tech.
MCU Armor Wars will explore what happens if and when the tech made by Tony Stark falls into the wrong hands. It will showcase James Rhodes in the lead role who is none other than Don Cheadle. Best friend to Tony, his role in the series itself proves Tony’s influence in the future of MCU.
We have already seen how Stark Tech has caused chaos when fallen into the wrong hands in both Iron-Man and Iron-Man 2. But Tony managed to put an end to it. Avengers: Age of Ultron too was a result of Tony’s dream to have a “suit of armor around the world.”
Rhodey was also the middleman between the U.S government and Tony Stark’s tech. He made sure that neither got involved with the other more than needed. This seems to say that MCU Armor Wars will be a political thriller besides being an action-packed ride. It will also show his growth as an independent character as he struggles to find a balance between Lieutenant Colonel and War Machine. Armor Wars will deal with the preservation of Tony Stark’s legacy via the hands of James Rhodes in a more personal manner.
The Untitled Spider-man 3
The relationship between Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the MCU was one of the most significant. And this was visible in Spider-Man: Far from Home where Tony leaves EDITH for Peter. Quentin Beck somehow gets hold it the technology and we all know what happened. This should be a sign to Rhodey about the bad things that can happen if Stark tech falls into the wrong hands. Keeping in mind that Spider-Man 3 will follow right after the events of Far from Home, we might see EDITH in Spider-Man 3 and in Armor Wars too. And we can consider that Far From Home will have repercussions in Armor Wars as well.
Other MCU movies and shows that will continue the legacy of Tony Stark include Black Widow, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four. Black Widow will show Natasha on the run from the government after being tagged as a vigilante post the occurrences of Civil War, after which the plot takes. She-Hulk AKA Jennifer Walters is a lawyer by profession whom we may find dealing with the Sokovia Accords, something that Tony supported big time. And Fantastic Four might show Reed Richards become Nick Fury’s consultant after Tony Stark. Reed too is a genius like Tony and it is only natural for Nick to consult him and thus connect to the Skrulls whom we have already seen in the MCU.
So it does seem that when Tony gave the A. I EDITH its name, he was right, Even-Dead-I’m-The-Hero.
