DC fans got the gift of their time when Warner Bros announced plans of its Multiverse last year kicks starting with scarlet speedster The Flash in 2022
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a gift that keeps on giving. Fans have never been so hyped for a superhero feature as they are now. The countdown for The Snyder Cut has begun and with a larger DC Multiverse at the horizon, each project adds up to the possibility of a future crossover. The director has confirmed his cut would be the last of the DCEU and WB treating every franchise individually, over the idea of a shared universe. Ezra Miller’s The Flash 2022 still gives us hope for a DCEU crossover.
Like every other character Miller’s Flash suffered at the hands of Joss Whedon’s reshoots. Much of his character arc was cut down and his part was reduced to a mere side kick who had to ‘save one person’. The Flash is more much more than that.
The Flash in Zack Snyder’s Vision
Flash aka Barry Allen was always supposed to be the light-hearted, fun person in the group. His fascination with his idol Batman was seen in the 2016s Comic-Con trailer of Justice League. Flash in Snyder’s world is basically a Batman boy which gives way for Ben Affleck’s presence in The Flash 2022. Batfleck is to be Barry’s mentor but the subplot was terribly reduced. Now, Flash director Andy Muschietti has picked up the plot point and is building up an emotional arc for the two. In a previous interview, Muschietti explained why Affleck is so important for The Flash. The ‘emotional’ build-up and the mentor/mentee relationship is quiet significant for Barry to take up his role as a young time-travelling hero. The audience was supposed to see a lot of his back story during the Justice League.
Furthermore, previously leaked footage and the new trailer showcase Iris West who was completely left out on the editing floor by Whedon. More so, Cyborg and Flash were going to develop a deep bond which would have opened up the doors for Cyborg’s presence in Miller’s standalone movie.

Barry Allen’s Power’s
The scarlet speedster can time travel. He’s so fast that he can literally travel between timelines thanks to the speed force. In the new Justice League trailer, we see the speed force depicted differently. This hints towards the Knightmare timeline where the League fails to save the day and Flash goes back in time to tell Bruce ‘Louis is the key.’ The same thing that we saw in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Snyder has explained Flash’s power set as his ‘quantum abilities’ this hints at the time travel part. Knowing Batfleck is part of The Flash 2022 and Snyder Cut giving us a good look at Barry’s powers we can rest assured that Flash builds upon the same connective tissue of the Snyder Cut.
It’s yet to be seen whether The Flash can canonize Zack Snyder’s Justice League or not. However, we can rest assured that Snyder will do justice to the scarlet speedster by telling his origin story as well as exploring his power ser for the upcoming The Flash 2022.
The four-part Zack Snyder’s Justice League will debut on HBO Max streaming platform on 18 March 2021.
