In theory, Deadpool and Daredevil are in the same boat when it comes to their MCU debut.
Marvel Studios has many problems to solve in the upcoming MCU phase and if it was a lot easier if they were just scheduling issues due to the pandemic. However, Marvel Studios has many character rights reverted that now needs a future. Characters like the X-men lineup needs a complete redo but has a close association with various actors who played them in the recent past. Then there is Fantastic Four team, fans are pinning their hopes on the Kevin Feige to finally do them justice. And then there’s curious case of Deadpool and a fan movement that‘s adamant to Save Daredevil.
How Marvel Plans To Add Deadpool To MCU?
Recently, Marvel Studios officially confirmed hiring Bob’s Burgers’ scribe Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin for writing Deadpool 3. What has held MCU’s entry by far in the MCU is the r-rated nature of Merc with a (Foul) Mouth. Disney now is opening up to the idea of having adult content on its platform. It’s rumoured that Disney+ will have a locked up section for adults to access via passcode to watch the r-rated movies such as Deadpool, Logan and more.
Further, it is confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be r-rated so the only question that’s left is how he will be introduced into the current MCU timeline. A leak surfaced days before the official announcement claimed that Deadpool 3 will be a retcon! Meaning, Deadpool will be part of MCU canon now but the effects of events from the Fox universe will be nullified in his current timeline. So Josh Brolin can still be MCU’s Thanos and not Fox’s Cable.
What make it easier for Deadpool to find a place in MCU is two things, the rights were in place for Marvel To start working on it. The other is it has fan favourite Ryan Reynolds’ at the helm of character’s creative decision. Nonetheless it is a long journey for the character given DP2 came out in 2018 and the movie will not be out say till 2022, there’s this significant time gap.

Lessons To Be Learnt From Merc With A Mouth
However, the lesson to be learnt here is one if fans want it the Studio gives in. Ryan Reynolds is a huge star to recast without backlash, given there are huge gaps in Avengers’ ranks to fill in. They made the space for r-rated content Disney as a studio evolved!
Another thing that a retcon is possible! While fandom is eager to watch characters like Wolverine, Fantastic four in new stories, retconning a character was just a speculation! With Deadpool it is now clear that it is an option. Like Netflix’s Agents of Shield departed from MCU in Season 4 only to tie back into it during the finale!
What Does This Tells Us About Saving Daredevil?
Save Daredevil movement has got massive support of 400,000 fans signing the petition. Even the antagonist of the Netflix show Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) has come out in support of it. With fans and industry’s support coupled with Marvel’s penchant for fan service. It is quite possible that the studio might actually bring back Charlie Cox. What more Kevin Feige is actually a big fan of the show and who know he already has plans now that the Daredevil rights have finally returned to the Marvel Studio?
Cox can debut with a retcon story just like the Deadpool and the MCU fans can finally see that Spider-Man, Daredevil, Deadpool crossover they deserve!
