Who is the Mighty Thor?
The Mighty Thor is a fictional female character in Marvel Comics which has been recently inducted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the rollout of the upcoming movie in the Thor series – “Thor: Love and Thunder”, which is expected to be released on 5th November 2021.
Natalie Portman would be making her comeback in Marvel Movies alongside Chris Hemsworth, after her mysterious disappearance from “Thor: Ragnarok” and Director Taika Waititi has already stated that fans will get to witness both actors to suit-up in the much-anticipated action thriller.
Why the Mighty Thor’s introduction was essential?

Natalie Portman who plays ‘Jane Foster’, the girlfriend of the God of Thunder, was last seen in 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World”. In 2017, Thor: Ragnarok, we heard that there was a breakup between Thor and Jane.
The breakup happens offscreen and we realize it when Thor and Loki encounter a group of fangirls while searching for Odin in New York. The news had come as a surprise to many as almost all traditional superheroes fall and stay in love with the same person forever.
Natalie Portman: an automatic choice for Female Thor
During this year’s comic-con, while introducing Natalie and handing-over her the Thor hammer – ‘Mjolnir’, director Waititi said that she read the storyline of The Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron and found it incredible. Waititi found the storyline as full of emotion, love, and thunder.
Waititi further said that she found the story incredible and the prospect of introducing a female Thor excited her. And she only saw one person fit for the role: Jane Foster aka Natalie Portman.
Significance of The Mighty Thor
It is quite comprehensible that the filmmakers wanted to engulf a new plotline in the series. You don’t need to be a genius to Dkode that this new twist was a pre-requisite as there wasn’t much courtesy provided to Thor in the Avengers: Endgame.
As the Marvel’s God of Thunder, Thor is an inseparable part of the process who lacked due consideration. With the introduction of ‘The Mighty Thor’, the enthusiasm is back among Thor fans. They are highly anticipating for what the latest rollout beholds for them.
How Natalie Portman would transform into The Mighty Thor
‘The Mighty Thor’ or ‘The Goddess of Thunder’ was first introduced by comic book writer Jason Aaron, in 2012, when he relaunched the Thor comic book series with Thor: God of Thunder. The first of an eight-issue storyline focused on a mysterious woman, who later turns out to be the ‘New Thor’ which is none other Jane Foster.
The storyline follows the original Thor at a point when he’s no longer worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, his trademark magical hammer. This leaves Asgardians vulnerable until a new Thor proves herself worthy of taking up the hammer.
She becomes the Goddess of Thunder and fights Frost Giants attacking Earth. It leads to a Thor vs. Thor situation, while everyone tries to figure out who the new Thor is.
Final plot of Phase 4
Thor: Love and Thunder, if nothing is shifted, would be the last film in phase four. It will directly follow the Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The movie would have to deal with the aftermath of events in Doctor Strange 2, which if nothing, would be sure as hell exciting. These events would be immensely complicated as they will entail the full embrace of the Multiverse. Let’s wait to see what ‘The Mighty Thor’ has in store for us…
