WandaVision is stirring fans by answering several mysteries every week now fans are eager to see Magneto in the MCU
Fans are overwhelmed with Wanda finally pronounced the ‘Scarlet Witch’ in episode 8 of the Disney+ series. All the wait, confusion and chaos finally paid off in the post-credit scene where White Vision was revealed. Now fans are excited to see the long-speculated return of Wanda’s father aka Magneto in the MCU.
Mutants Homecoming To MCU
Since the Disney and Fox deal went through mutants have had the official homecoming to Marvel. Prior to it pronouncing mutants in Marvel Cinematic Universe was taboo. The fact also messed up the introduction of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now Marvel tried to retcon Wanda’s origins via Wakanda Files, an in-cannon book they released in 2020. The book written from none other than Princess of Wakanda, Shuri’s point of view, points at the possibility of Wanda’s powers merely triggering by the Mind Stone.
Watch – WandaVision: Magneto Will Rescue Wanda
In WandaVision episode 8 we went down Wanda’s memory lane triggered by Agatha Harkness. There we finally see Strucker’s experiment on Wanda. Her simple instructions were to touch the Infinity Stone however, it looks like she telekinetically pulled it close. She further takes the full force of the Mind Stone and is left unscathed. Agnes theorizes she cast a spell further pointing towards chaos magic.
WandaVision Introducing the X-Men
While Wanda Maximoff’s comic origins are as unclear as her live-action accent, the certainty of her chaos magic and reality-warping capabilities have led fans to expect mutants debuting in the MCU through the Multiverse. Furthermore, in the House of M, the storyline WandaVision show extensively draws from Magneto is Pietro and Wanda’s father.
While we see a simple couple as their parents in the Disney+ series, Fox’s X-Men franchise elaborated on Quicksilver and Magneto’s relationship. So, when Evans Peter, who played the part in Fox’s franchise, appeared in WandaVision fans couldn’t help but make the connection. Previously, there have been rumours about the studio approaching Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender for the part.
Ian McKellen Or Michael Fassbender – Who will make the MCU cameo?
McKellen carried the mantle of Magneto in 5 Fox movies before Fassbender inherited it. Fassbender too appeared no less than 4 times as Magneto in the X-men franchise. Both the actors nailed the character in their own ways. More so, their hand gesture was perfectly recreated by Wanda in the Disney+ series.
That not only sent the internet into a collective meltdown but also gave more reasons to fans to expect a version of Magneto to show up. Some theories even claim that Magneto will be ‘recast’ like Pietro but we are far away from those now.
While it’s a well-known fact that Kevin Feige will never canonise the Fox X-men franchise but looks like he’s drawing from it. Peter’s cameo in WandaVision further embraces it. Feige previously met Patrick Stewart to discuss the possibility of an MCU future it would be a perfectly normal thing for him to extend the same to McKellenac or Fassbender.
What fans might need to remember however, Magneto’s cameo doesn’t make him a permanent member of X-men rather it would be just that… a one-off Magneto cameo…
