As fans wait to see who becomes the next Wolverine in the MCU, Luke Hemsworth says he is prepared for it.
With Hugh Jackman retired from playing the character of Wolverine after Logan (2017), ending his celebrated portrayal of the character since its first appearance in X-Men (2000), there has been a lot of commotion as to who would be the perfect actor to bring back the character on screen.

New Hemsworth In The MCU
With Marvel having gained control of the character of Wolverine with Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox last year, it is sure that Wolverine, along with other mutants, will surely make his appearance in the MCU sooner or later. And it is going to be a very tough job for both Marvel and the fans to find an actor and to accept him as the new Wolverine, respectively. Because needless to say, Hugh Jackman has nailed the character to the very last bit. His portrayal was never challenged, nor was it criticized.
With Logan’s critical and commercial success, Jackman proved that there can be only one Wolverine, and that’s him.
However, one actor seems to have made it clear that he wants to play the role of Wolverine. And that is none other than Luke Hemsworth, one of the Hemsworth brothers and the star of Death of Me and Westworld. We have also seen him in a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok. Remember the scene where we see Loki (disguised as Odin) is watching a play called The Tragedy of Loki? Matt Damon played Loki and Thor? Indeed, it is but Luke Hemsworth. A huge fan of Spawn, Batman, and Wolverine since childhood, he wants this very role to be given “…to another Aussie” after Jackman. Speaking to Screen Rant he said,
“I’ll have to grow some chest hair, but I’m ready for Wolverine”.
Wolverine’s MCU Future
With so much love for Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor, it might just be great to have Luke Hemsworth as Wolverine in MCU. And as far as Wolverine is concerned, Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner AKA the Hulk) wants him to come to MCU as soon as possible. He even spoke about a Hulk-Wolverine movie. Nonetheless, with the reputation, he has earned for spoilers (ending of Infiniti War, Thor: Ragnarok footage, and more), this might turn out to be true in the distant future. On the other hand, however, one of the directors of Avengers: Endgame, Joe Russo thinks that Marvel should wait a while before bringing in Wolverine.
Maybe because the character as played by Jackman is still fresh in our mind, needs time before being tackled by any other actor. Nonetheless, Luke Hemsworth will make a good consideration for the role given he has the right built, height and he is in the right age. Also, he notes it should go to another Australian actor as Jackman wielded adamantium claws for 17 years in 10 different appearances.
Furthermore, the fact that Marvel chooses not to recast an actor twice weakens Hemsworth’s chances to enter the MCU again.
For the time being, we have Chris Hemsworth reprising the role of Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Well, until we have two Hemsworths, we will have to make do with one. And that’s alright.
