Avengers: Endgame saw the heartwrenching end of fan-favourite characters Black Widow and Tony Stark. But the movie carved the way for new Avenger characters from the comics universe to take the baton and continue the series.

Among the original Avengers who survived was an Asgardian, Thor whose story will continue in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ with Marvel’s Phase 4. But however, that won’t stand true for too long in the coming future. All signs within the MCU point to Chris Hemsworth’s departure and here’s why.
The movie is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2021.
Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have divulged why they opted for Asgard’s God of Thunder to stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Markus explained that Thor had sacrificed a lot and his cinematic life has only been ruled with loss. It wouldn’t have been the nicest plot nor the best time to kill the Avenger. But he might not survive ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
All signs within the MCU point to Thor’s departure
The narrative destined to unfold in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ might see Chris Hemsworth take his final bow in the upcoming installment.
Valkyrie inherited the king of Asgard’s title from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor; meaning, he would no longer serve some grander purpose to his home, as he has renounced his leadership. However, someone has to fill his shoes as the God of Thunder, and become worthy enough to wield Mjolnir.

Politics at Marvel: Natalie Portman hammers her way to Mighty Thor
That’s when Jane Foster will come back into force in order to take over Thor’s place and take care of Asgard.
After the massive success of Captain Marvel as the first female superhero, Marvel has seen the female superpowers firsthand. The reason for Natalie Portman’s arrival to the MCU is because we will see her as a standalone hero. Given that her character Jane Foster is able to lift Mjölnir with ease when even Odin could not, it paves the way for the entry of female Thor in Love and Thunder.
Anyway, Chris Hemsworth’s character from the Avengers, Thor, has declared himself unworthy. In fact, despite hundreds of varied attempts to lift the hammer, he is unable to do so. Once Jane Foster picks the hammer, the words embossed on the Mjölnir change from ‘HE’ to ‘SHE who is worthy.
These ample reasons point to the departure of our most cherished Marvel superhero, Thor with Love and Thunder. But however, tell us if you are convinced and if you would want him to stay in the future Marvel films.
