The ‘Lord of The Rings’ series has got its first cast member.
Markella Kavenagh is in talks to take up a role in the fantasy series. The details of her role are being kept undercover. Sources suggest she is set to play the role of a character named Tyra.
Markella is known for her roles in the sequel to the Australian film, ‘Romper Stomper’ as well as for series like “Picnic at Hanging Rock” and “The Cry”.
She is repped by Silver Lining Entertainment.
Amazon, as well as Kavenagh’s rep, both refused to clarify.
The series is being developed by JD Payne’s writing team along with Patrick McKay. Game of Thrones’ Bryan Cogman has also signed on. J.A. Bayona is signed on to direct multiple episodes of the series.
Lord of the Rings series will ensue in the second age of Tolkein universe. Storylines set to be explored will be those that come before ‘Fellowship of The Ring’, for those of you who don’t know the history of the Tolkien universe.
The shows official Twitter handle put out an image of a map. The tweet has two messages attatched-
“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie,”
And the second – “Welcome to the Second Age.”
In Tolkien’s Fantastic Mythology, the second age is the time when the rings of power and Sauron’s One Ring were all forged.
Amazon announced a multi-season production commitment in late 2017. The series is under Amazon’s production banner and is expected to take the world by fire.
Regardless, the magic of the original movies set a skyscraping bar for all fantasy shows and movies.
