Fast and Furious 9 is on its way and the franchise is introducing a new cast. The new cast includes Keanu Reeves, Cardi B and John Cena.
The upcoming Fast and Furious 9 will include some new cast which is a sequel to 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. It is the 10th installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. With the new cast incoming, the franchise will also see many familiar faces return including stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Michael Rooker.
The movie is set to release in the United States on May 22, 2020. Previously Fast 9 originally slated for April 19, 2019, but they hadn’t locked down a director in time. In February 2019, Universal announced that the studio would be pushing the release back slightly.
Recently Fast and furious came with its first spinoff movie Hobbs & Shaw which cast Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. The film did feature surprise cameos from Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Hart, and Rob Delaney. That introduces new, potentially-recurring characters to the Fast and Furious universe.
New cast in Fast and Furious 9
John Cena
John Cena is the new cast joining Fast and Furious franchise. Now Dwayne Johnson and Ronda Rousey aren’t the only WWE stars in the franchise anymore. Vin Diesel shared a post on his Instagram with a video where he believes Cena will “completely shine in this movie,” before launching into musings on his favorite shooting locations.
John Cena expresses his own excitement about being the cast in Fast and Furious 9. “For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history,” he tweeted.
Cardi B
Cardi B is also confirming as cast in the upcoming Fast and Furious frenchise. The NY rapper recently confirmed herself for a role in the film alongside reggaeton star Ozuna. The confirmation comes up with an Instagram Video featuring Vin Diesel and Cardi. In the video, Vin Diesel says, “I know I’m exhausted, we gave every single thing we could for this movie. We have put it all on the table, put it all out there.” To this Cardi B agrees and said, “I’m tired, but I can’t wait. I ain’t gon’ front, this gonna be the best one.”
The rapper will have a small role in the film. No other information has come upon the part till now. However, given her attire in the video from the set, it looks like her character will get some of the action.
Keanu Reeves
Keanu is extremely in-demand these days. He confirms the upcoming John Wick movie and is also working on Matrix 4. John Wick series put Reeves back on the map as an action star after a long downturn in his fortunes. So getting Keanu into a Fast & Furious movie as the main cast is not easy task. The ensemble films already require coordinating schedules for a lot of actors.
To make Keanu Reeves cast into the Fast and Furious franchise, they need to do something unprecedented, something that excites him and fans of the franchise. After the success of John Wick 3, Keanu Reeves will join Fast & Furious 9. This was confirmed after his recent conversation with Hobbs and Shaw director Chris Morgan.
