Jared Leto’s addition as Joker to the cast of Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut is the most exciting thing for the DC fans
No one was happy with the treatment that Jared Leto’s Joker got in 2016s Suicide Squad. Neither the director David Ayer nor Leto or fans appreciated the character treatment. While Ayer and Leto’s original plans were very different what translated on screen can be called the worst interpretation of the character. A lot of the story arch was left on the editing floor, the ‘darkness’ of the Joker was mistreated as vain jokes and whatnot. And it is one of the reasons that fans demand to release the Ayer Cut nonetheless, Zack Snyder is bringing Joker to his Justice League cut.
Joker in the Snyder Cut
Recently, during the third anniversary of Justice League’s theatrical release, Zack Snyder gave fans an exclusive black and white trailer of his cut. He also gave many interviews elaborating various aspects of his cut. In one of the podcast, he described his version of Joker as ‘road weary’. Snyder was an executive producer of the Suicide Squad. He was always in synch with David Ayer’s original plans and story arch of Joker. He recently told Grace Randolph about his vision for the character during the additional photography. He said, “I wanted to, of course, honour what had been created with him because I thought it was really cool.”
Nonetheless, the director did mention that the character will undergo some changes. Further explaining he said, “But there is some water has gone under the proverbial bridge between when last we saw Joker and this appearance. He’s a road-weary Joker; I guess that’s a way of saying it.” Talking about the scenes he did with Leto he said,
This scene was… a part of the world that I love and that I felt like needed to be just added to this movie and that… it’s really the only thing that I’ve added outside of the original photography.
While what part Leto’s Joker plays is unclear Snyder revealed that the total duration of additional photography is only 4 minutes in the four-part series.
A New Look for the Clown Prince of Crime
Furthermore, what Snyder did not reveal Scoopers dug out! When we remember Leto’s joker the tight clothes, slicked back hair, jewelry, and tattoos – lots of them comes to mind. However, recent tweets by notable Scooper Daniel Richtman revealed that Jared Leto’s Joker is getting a makeover for the Snyder Cut. Adding up to it was Geeks World Wide’s writer @BlackMajikMan on twitter. He added, ‘long hair, rugged, no tattoos or capped teeth.’
Both Richtman and GWW are very credible industry insiders and scoopers. And their description goes with Snyder’s ‘road weary’ explanation. If indeed true it will be a distinct visual identity for the character. Joker is also a wildcard in the Snyder Cut having played no part in the theatrical cut.
As fans predict Joker will appear in the Knightmare sequence and might also showcase how Robin died. As Snyder was both executive producer and one-time architect for DCEU – his interpretation of the Joker would be closest to what fans get to Ayer’s original vision.
