The Duffer brothers are having a lot of fun messing with our heads and are not afraid to let us in on their little secrets – So, here’s Episode 1: The Hellfire Club
The Stranger Things writer just revealed the first episode title for Season 4 and it looks like there is some significant Marvel’s X-Men reference. Stranger Things is Netflix’s most-watched show of the past year. Now, the Duffer Brothers are gearing up for its fourth season in a major way. The first episode title as “Chapter One: The Hellfire Club.” Fans are going crazy after seeing first-look of the Stranger Things 4 script.
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer made the announcement to mark the day Will Byers went missing in the Netflix show’s very first episode. Stranger Writer posted on Twitter with a caption saying, “looking for new members… are you in?”The Stranger Things new title may have multiple meanings, but till now fans are assuming that it is something to do with Marvel X-Men.
What is The Hellfire Club?
The Hellfire Club is the name of a fictional, secret society. It is a group of villains in the X-Men comics of the 1980s. These iconic villains are led by Emma Frost (aka The White Queen). She is the leader of the club. They all came during the Dark Phoenix saga where Jean Grey famously transformed from being Professor X’s right-hand partner.
It’s difficult to understand why the first episode of Stranger Things 4 would want to name there script after such a pseudo-villainous group. It looks like maybe our heroes have to reckon with morally ambiguous choices and power struggles, just like the Hellfire Club. Also, Eleven’s powers and Dark Phoenix have similarities.
What does the title mean?
In Stranger Things Season 4, fans speculating Eleven will turn evil this series, it seems the showrunners are only fueling the fire. It could be Stranger Things’ way of acknowledging the influence that X-Men stories might have on the upcoming season’s overall vibe. The epilogue seemed to indicate that the kids of Stranger Things may be having a smaller role in Season 4 Episode 1.
The X-Men reference can be enough to ignite a lot of speculation about the upcoming season of Stranger Things. So, they’ll probably be messing with our heads right up until season four is actually released on Netflix. Stranger Things have changed the names of some of its Season 3 episodes from what was originally announced, so nothing may be set in stone for Season 4 as of now.
At the end of Stranger Things season 3, we saw Hopper die while saving everyone. Netflix also recently shared a teaser of Stranger Things Season 4 which gives us a clue that Hopper is alive. We got a clue that Jim Hopper is alive after we saw from David Harbour’s Instagram. The actor updated his profile just after the trailer dropped, possibly revealing a huge spoiler that the teaser seems to support.
Hopper is Alive
The Americans who the Russians are talking about could be Hopper. Hopper is seen on the wrong side of the Russian machine working to open the Upside-Down gate. When the machine exploded, we saw a group of people in Hazmat suits who rushed into the room just moments before getting obliterated in the blast. This could mean Hopper is alive and taken by the Russians in the new script for Stranger Things 4.
Just before the machine exploded, Hopper had suddenly disappeared from the machine’s side. If we see the scene closely, Hopper is no longer standing next to the machine when it’s about to blow up, so we think that Hopper is still alive. Furthermore, there was a ladder leading down from the machine’s platform, so Hopper theoretically could have used that to get to the Gate. It looks like from there he made it into the Upside-Down before the machine blew up.
The first three seasons of Stranger Things are currently streaming on Netflix. The show is expected to return next December.
