Whether it’s having a hard time adulting or struggles in love life— the popular group in Central Perk is our go-to place when life is getting hard. While they had been away for 15 years, seems like Friends reunion on HBO Max is finally happening!
Friends’ cast and crew have confirmed that the much-anticipated HBO Max reunion is on its way. The reunion will be telecasted on WB’s streaming platform and the stars of the much-loved series from the 90s will once again create magic on-screen.
Actor David Schwimmer spoke to late-night show host Jimmy Fallon in an interview and addressed the delayed reunion shoot, he said,
“It’s supposed to happen maybe in August — the middle of August. But honestly, we’re gonna wait and see another week or two if we all determine it’s really safe enough to do. And if not, then we’ll wait until it’s safe.”

Show’s co-creator Marta Kauffman told The Wrap in June, “We are hoping to be able to shoot in August if all is well and there is no early second wave and the studio is open.”
YES, it’s finally happening!
We have been hearing this exciting piece of news for so long but unfortunately due to COVID-19, the original shoot planned in March was postponed. The good news is that the shoot is now scheduled for next month at the original Burbank studio in California.
“I think it will be really fun when we finally get out and can do the reunion show,” Jennifer Aniston said, in an interview with Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow for Variety’s Actors on Actors issue.

“We don’t know everything about it,” Kudrow added. “What we do know, we can’t say. I think we’re meant to be surprised by some things.”
Aniston agreed, “Oh, we don’t know anything about it,” further revealed, “I will not be Rachel, although I kind of am. Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really, but yeah.”
What can we expect?
Many believe the Friends reunion is going to be a new episode. However, that is not the case. It’s going to be a fun reunion where the main star cast will get together, revisit the original set, spill some beans about the behind-the-scenes and relive the shoot days.
In fact, before the initial plan of the shoot, HBO Max confirmed that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will be seen together once again for a special documentary.
HBO Max boss Kevin Reilly confirmed the news in February saying, “Guess you could call this The One Where They All Got Back Together – we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library [for US viewers].

To this he added, “I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation.
“It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans,” he revealed further.
Previously Deadline reported that the main stars will take back $3 million for their appearance in the documentary. The reunion is planned to promote HBO Max for it’s HBO’s upcoming streaming service.
