With so many rumors and speculations revolving around Doctor Strange 2, fans can expect to see a lot of MCU characters in the movie.
Ever since Doctor Strange’s sequel was presented to MCU audience at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, speculations and rumours have been pouring in. One of the main reason behind this hype is the ability of Doctor Strange to traverse multiple universes. Coupled with the fact that Avengers altering timelines to undo Thanos’ snap can have ripple effects for Sorcerer Supreme to look after. Nonetheless, dropping ‘Multiverse’ in the movie title further added fuel to the fire. And boy, it has filled us all with some real MCU “madness”!
Watch: DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS | 2019 Comic-Con Panel
A Diverse Cast For Multiverse of Madness
The casting has been the canon in the MCU. It has given us some of our most beloved actors, be it Robert Downey Jr., as Tony Stark, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, and countless others. And in this case, it is Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange.
Doctor Strange is one of the best movies in the Infinity Saga for its addition of mystics and magic in the MCU
With its beautiful storyline and portrayal of the different characters, be it Strange, Mordo, the Ancient One, or Kaecilius, the movie was complete in all aspects. And the film showed us the importance of the Infiniti Stones, which makes it a very significant film in the MCU storyline. And it up the expectations of the fans to have more diverse characters in the future; something, which Marvel has taken care of in the most subtle manner. Doctor Strange 2 cast Cumberbatch as Strange, Benedict Wong will reprise his character Wong however Rachel McAdams will not return as Christine Plamer from the first movie. Below are some who will join Doctor Strange in the Multiverse.
Scarlet Witch’s Time Warp
The most obvious character that we will see in Doctor Strange 2 is Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch, as she would be known by the time. As for this reason, we need to talk about the Disney+ series WandaVision that will be coming out in December 2020. It will be dealing with her reality-warping powers. Which presumably will create chaos in the Doctor Strange’s Multiverse. with The House of M Easter egg in the trailer fans have gone on to speculate Wanda to be an anti-hero in the Doctor Stange sequel. Elizabeth Olsen will be reviving her role, one to which she has done complete justice till now.
Baron Mordo Returns
Next up, we have the villain or at least one of the villains. We all remember Baron Mordo from Doctor Strange. Chiwetel Ejiofor is a great actor, and he played the character flawlessly.
Be it the admirable knowledge in magical arts or the revengeful way of thinking in the post-credits scene, Chiwetel pitched every moment perfectly. And this will bring him back in Doctor Strange 2. And with Strange losing the Time Stone, Mordo’s rage for him for disrespecting magic will increase manifold. Furthermore, he has a lot of knowledge about sorcerers and sanctums too.
America Chavez in the MCU
Reportedly, Baby-Sitters Club star Xochitl Gomez will cast in an undisclosed role in Doctor Strange 2. And fans are presuming that she will be playing none other than America Chavez in the MCU. And there is indeed good reason to think so. While Doctor Strange is known for his magic, traveling across the multiverse is more of an America Chavez thing. She uses star-shaped portals to travel across universes. She is also known to have traveled back in time.
So it only makes sense to think that Strange and Chavez might cross paths. Or Chavez might accidentally turn up on Strange’s radar. Whatever the case, she will come in handy if it comes to saving the multiverse. America Chaves comes from the Utopian Parallel, which exists outside of the multiverse and outside the function of time. The Utopian Parallel is under the watch of Demiurge, who is no one else but Scarlet Witch’s son after becoming an omnipotent being. See how everything seems to connect?
Spider-verse in the MCU Multiverse
Other than these, we have already heard that Doctor Strange will appear in Spider-Man 3 before appearing in his sequel.
We also have heard reports that we will see a Spider-verse that will bring together Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield alongside Tom Holland. Inversely, it can also be that we will be seeing one or more of them in Doctor Strange 2 too. And we can’t wait for MCU to spin the web.
Doctor Strange 2, or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will be the first horror flick of the MCU. Sam Raimi took the directorial responsibilities after Scott Derrickson, stepped down. So hints of his Spider-verse will be seen in the sequel. And one can rest assured of other horrors from the dark corners of MCU like Dormammu and Nightmare.
Apart from it there are interesting rumoured cameos of our favourite heroes from alternate dimension such as Tom Cruise as Iron Man, John Krasinski as Captain America, Emily Blunt as Black Widow, and also Joaquin Phoenix as Sorcerer Supreme himself .
