Superman is getting a reboot with a black character while Henry Cavill will appear in the upcoming Justice League, which might (not) be his last movie as Superman.
The reign of rumours for the DC fans continues. For a change, these rumours don’t concern Snyder’s Justice League, but our favourite Superman. Zack Snyder cast Henry Cavill as Superman for the first time in 2013’s Man of Steel. The duo further told his story in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now Cavill is all set to mark his great return in the upcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Meanwhile, if you are a DC fan, you would know that there is going to be a reboot of the Superman franchise by none other than JJ Abrams. Interestingly this is Abrams second attempt at rebooting the fan favourite character. Previously, Cavill came this close to getting the role but found his break along with Snyder in 2013. The new DC movie will be produced by JJ Abrams and written by the renowned Marvel comic writer Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Michael B Jordan The New Superman
To add more spark to the rumour, it is believed that the upcoming Ta-Nehisi movie will cast a black Superman. DC had been long planning to experiment with this, and now those plans are certainly going to come into action. On logical grounds, DC and Ta-Nehisi can make Superman or Kal-El black as he is a Kryptonian, an alien race, so a change in ethnicity isn’t a big deal and yet it is.
The black superhero is believed to be Michael B. Jordan, who also played Killmonger, the main antagonist in Blank Panther. The arrival of a black Superman could be a huge setback for the Henry Cavill fans, but this might revolutionize the DC universe. No matter what happens, it will undoubtedly bring many theories and attention to the Superman character and the DC multiverse – on the whole.

No More Cameos For Henry?
It was believed that the Superman fans would get to see his cameo in the upcoming Shazam 2 just like its predecessor. But it was reported that Cavill wouldn’t be a part of the upcoming Shazam 2.
The absence of Cavill in the upcoming DC movies could be disheartening for his fans. But, let’s grab some positivity and hope that no matter if the new Superman comes, Clark Kent stays. In addition to that, we know there are going to be three different Batmen in the upcoming DC universe. So, having different Supermen only shows that the multiverse is growing faster than we expected.
During last years DC FanDome event, In the Multiverse panel Walter Hamada and Jim Lee explained how DC Universe will function going forward. Per DC Multiverse, all the characters are canon but from different Earths. Meaning, both the characters can exist in the multiverse and crossover, but they’d belong to different Earths. So, like there are different Batmen there can also be two Superman.
Since, DC Multiverse starts with The Flash 2022 and Cavill is the Man of Steel in that universe his status is unharmed.
Let’s also brace ourselves for the upcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League with Henry Cavill as Superman dressed in a black suit with his heat vision eyes. The upcoming Justice League is all set to make its debut on 18th March 2021.
