Captain Marvel has become 2019 box office’s first $1 billion hit, along with being the seventh most successful box office release
Captain Marvel has earned $1 billion at the box office globally, the first to do so with a lead character who wasn’t introduced in a previous Marvel film. Even Black Panther’s character was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which was the highest-grossing film of the 2018 domestic box office. Captain Marvel character was first introduced in Avengers: Infinity War by Nick Fury, but Captain Marvel herself was not seen in the movie.
The film has generated $358 million in North America and $645 million overseas. On the opening weekend the film earned $153 million domestic and $456 million globally. The money will continue to pour in for Marvel Studios and Disney as the Captain Marvel will be seen in the upcoming “Avengers: Endgame”.
The movie is also Marvel’s first female-directed film. The movie was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the star-studded cast also includes Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Annette Bening.

Larson’s Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) will make her Avengers debut in “Avengers: Endgame,” which hits the big screen on April 26.
DC was the first to make female-led superhero film which is Wonder Woman, it showed Hollywood that all kinds of audiences can get behind a little female empowerment. Gal Gadot was seen as Wonder Woman in the movie which earned a massive $841 million globally.
