Marvel plans to bring back Chris Evans’ Captain America. He will help defeat the potential MCU Avengers 5 villain, Kang the Conqueror.
According to the latest report from Deadline, Marvel will reportedly bring back Captain America in MCU Avengers 5. He will help the Avengers face the villain, Kang the Conqueror. Played by Jonathan Majors, the character will make its debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Reports suggest Evans will be back in a 2 movie contract with role much like Robert Downey Jr’s in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Captain America and his Retirement
Avengers: Endgame made it clear that Steve Rogers would no longer be there to lead. He was given the perfect farewell after 3 solo movies and 4 Avengers movies. What began in Captain America: The First Avenger finally got full circle in Avengers: Endgame. The perfect ending as we saw him dancing with the love of his life, Peggy. He passed over his mantel (the shield) to Sam Wilson AKA Falcon. And we will see him yielding it from now on; starting with the upcoming Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Time Travel Is Now Possible in the MCU
If Marvel plans to bring back Captain America, it will have to make sure that it does not ruin the ending of Endgame. One way for this could be that Captain America (Chris Evans) will be returning via time travel. This will keep the occurrences of Avengers: Endgame intact and not undo them. And the perfect way to do this is by bringing him back in the Avengers 5 film. So, if a time travel arc is used, we will get to see a younger version of Steve Rogers and not the aged Steve.
Avengers: Endgame gained a lot of hype before its release due to the time-travel theory. This is because it was the first time the MCU was using time travel. But now that MCU has firmly established time travel, it has become a common plot device to take storylines further ahead. Be it using the Pym Particles or the Quantum Realm, Marvel can now venture into the past and bring back early characters including Captain America.
Kang the Conqueror is Arriving in the MCU
Kang the Conqueror makes use of his time-travel abilities travel across time to give shape to his evil plans. He hails from the 31st century and is a descendant of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). His stature in Comics makes Kang too big a threat for a single film. A worthy way to treat him is to make him the major villain in Avengers 5.
Having the ability to travel through time will allow Kang to build an army of the strongest from the past, present, and future. These can be powerful threats as well as potential ones that the Avengers have not even faced yet. And the only way for the Avengers to fight such an army is to make use of the time-travel arc as well. Although this involves bringing back Captain America who has led all the epic battles till now in the MCU, it is not limited to him and we might just see other characters from the past as well.
Captain America and his Timelines
If the Avengers plan to get Cap’s help to defeat Kang, they will have to decide from which moment they should bring him. For example, they could bring him out of his “capsicle” after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Or they can contact him after the events of The Avengers or Avengers: Age of Ultron. Why Captain America is indeed the first choice to carry an all-out assault on Kang is significant. It is because Marvel Comics has some of the most memorable confrontations that involve these two popular characters. So, MCU would not only be giving us a worthy fight but also paying a tribute to the original character-arcs as well. And we love it every time this happens, don’t we?
