Paramount Pictures had plans for a sequel to 2013’s World War Z. As per reports, David Fincher was confirmed to direct the film with Brad Pitt returning to his role. Brad Pitt’s Dream
Despite the cancellation of the World War Z sequel, Brad Pitt aspires for it turning into reality. He particularly wants David Fincher behind the camera.
In a recent interview, Brad told Collider –
“We had a really good story, which he shepherded. Really strong story. The things he had planned for it hadn’t been seen before. I’m sure he’ll get it out in something else.”Brad Pitt
2013’s World War Z was directed by Marc Forster. Brad Pitt also served as a producer on that film along with his Plan B Entertainment producing partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. The film received mostly positive reviews and grossed $540 million worldwide.
It also would’ve been nice to see David Fincher reunite with Brad Pitt. Unfortunately, it looks like David’s World War Z sequel remains shelved at Paramount.
Brad faces an uphill battle to cast his dream on the screens worldwide. The ban by the Chinese government on Zombie featuring movies is the biggest obstacle. China today is a huge market for Hollywood movies. There are hundred’s of more screens laid down in China every month.
Moreover, the group also faces challenges of Budget. Many members of the original cast of World War Z are pre-occupied with several projects, hence, that’s another issue to bring them all together.
If you are an aspirant for World War Z sequel then probably you might have to wait for a long time. And it still cannot be officially said whether Brad’s dream of a sequel would come to fruition.
