American rapper A$AP Rocky has pleaded not guilty for his assault case in Sweden.
A$AP Rocky was detained almost a month ago following a street brawl in the capital Stockholm. The rapper could have faced up to two years in prison if convicted.
His hearing took place at the Stockholm District Court inside a heavily secured courtroom that was completely closed off to the public. Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, was also in attendance for the hearing.
Swedish public prosecutor Daniel Suneson read out the charges against the artist and two other men in his entourage. The victim told the court he suffered injuries on his arm and head in the fight, as well as broken ribs.
A$AP Rocky’s lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, maintains the fact that his client did not commit any crime.
Today Rocky was pleaded not guilty. Rocky sticks to his opinion that he fought with the man seen in the viral fight video in self-defense.
Rocky’s alleged victim is reportedly asking for about $139,700 Swedish Krona—or $15,000 U.S. dollars. Marshall also reports that Jafari said he thought Rocky and company were going to beat him to death.
