The hype is increasing with each passing day around the Snyder Cut. As per the confirmations, Zack Snyder will feature 7 DC villains in his cut, which is quite a lot! So, we dived in to find out and list all the seven baddies coming to HBO Max next year.
1. Darkseid – Ray Porter
The big bad boy of DC comics is here! The wielder of Omega force, a sage of Anti-life equation, and the Lord of Apokolips, Darkseid is in the Snyder Cut. Played by Ray Porter, Snyder’s Darkseid did not make it to the 2017 theatrical cut, but 2021 is going to change that. We have already seen how baby-Darkseid, Uxas, looks like in the trailer of the Snyder Cut.
Additionally, we will also see the full form of the Dark Lord in the final moments of the climax of the 4 episode long Snyder Cut of Justice League. Darkseid is one of the strongest characters across all the comic book universes. There is a belief that Thanos got its inspiration from the Darkseid. Well, it’s time we see the ruler of Apokolips in a live-action avatar, and who better than Zack Snyder to do that.
2. Steppenwolf – Ciarán Hinds
If there is one similarity between the 2017 cut and Snyder Cut, it is that Steppenwolf will be the main villain. But that is all the similarity because, in Snyder’s version, Steppenwolf is very different. In contrast to Whedon’s cut, Snyder’s Steppenwolf looks more badass, less human, and has an armor that is alive.
Yes, the spiky armour of Steppenwolf is living and can restructure like Doomsday’s. In comics, Steppenwolf is the general of Darkseid’s army and his uncle. In the theatrical cut, he was the only villain Justice League actively fights and defeats. But, it is going to be different in the Snyder Cut.
3. DeSaad – Peter Guinness
Probably one of the darkest and devious characters in the DC comics. DeSaad is one of the honorable members of the Darkseid’s Hall of Pain. DeSaad is a creation of Jack Kirby and is known to be one of the most merciless minions of Darkseid. The new Snyder Cut’s Justice League trailer gives us the first look at DCEU’s DeSaad.
Known to be a torturer, DeSaad possesses the unique power to manipulate the emotions of his enemies, even brainwashing them into submission. As per CBR, Peter Guinness will be playing the role of DeSaad in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
4. Lex Luthor – Jesse Eisenberg
So now we come down to the humans! If Justice League manages to stop Darkseid and his army from infiltrating earth, the human baddies are just getting started. We saw Jesse Eisenberg’s version of Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Jesse’s rendition of Luthor got a mixed reaction from the audience in 2016.
In 2017’s theatrical cut, there was an end credit scene that featured a glimpse of Eisenberg’s Luthor on a yacht with Deathstroke. There was a rumour that it was a tease for the Injustice League, there will get a better look at that in the Snyder Cut.
5. Deathstroke – Joe Manganiello
It was August of 2016 when Ben Affleck surprised the whole DC fan-verse with a video of Deathstroke. Deathstroke is one of the fiercest foes of Batman. In comics, Batman and Deathstroke have fought some of the most iconic battles against each other. Sadly, in 2017’s version, there was not much of Deathstroke except for a little tease.
Nonetheless, with the recent developments coming in, it is almost a surety that Snyder Cut will feature more of Joe Manganiello’s kickass rendition of the legendary Deathstroke. It would be amazing to watch Batfleck going hand-to-hand against Manganiello’s Slade Wilson.
6. Joker – Jared Leto
Yes, Yes, and Yes! The clown prince of Gotham is here in the Snyder Cut. Joker has been one of the most famous villains across all comic book universes. Not just comics, there have been numerous live-action versions of Joker. The latest one came in 2019 by Joaquin Phoenix.
After the official news of Jared Leto joining the Snyder Cut as the Joker, the possibility of Injustice League seems all the more a reality. Jared Leto made his debut as the Clown Prince in 2016 with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, but he had to face a lot of flak. But, Zack Snyder has given Leto another opportunity to make his mark as the Joker once again. Is second time lucky?
7. Rogue Superman – Henry Cavill
We know he is not a ‘villain’ villain. But if the 2017’s theatrical version is anything to go by, we might see a resurgent Superman going against the whole League. A rogue Superman is probably as dangerous as Darkseid himself. In the comics, there have been times when Clark Kent was under Darkseid’s influence, and he went against the Justice League.
Even though there has been some insight that in Snyder’s cut, Cyborg will be under Darkseid’s control because of the mother box, it would be interesting to see Superman facing off against the whole Justice League.
These are just the confirmed Justice League villains in Zack Snyder’s Cut. There are rumours that the director will also introduce the ‘Apokolips Family’ in the final scene of the 4 episode cut. Apokolips Family, consisting of Darkseid’s daughter Grail and his sons Kalibark, Orion, and Grayven, are standing near Darkseid in the final scene.
