Here are 7 characters that are coming back to Zack Snyder’s Justice League
1. Elinore Stone – Karen Bryson
It is no surprise that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is going to have a lot of Cyborg. The director has gone on record to say that Ray Fisher’s Cyborg was the central character of his story. But, in the 2017 theatrical edition, it was not so. But, now that Zack is back in the driver’s seat, we can see more of Victor Stone and his back story starting the trailer. Zack Snyder has also said that Victor’s mother, Elinore Stone, will feature in his cut and the accident which led to her death and the creation of Cyborg.
2. Ryan Choi – Zheng Kai
Why is Ryan Choi on this list? The inclusion of Ryan Choi in Snyder’s JL is not only required for the backstory of Cyborg but is also essential for the future of the DCEU. Even though it was a tease, the introduction of Ryan Choi, who is Atom in the comics, signals the idea of a grander world in the director’s original vision. In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Zheng Kai is cast as Ryan Choi, director of Nanotechnology at the S.T.A.R. Labs, and works alongside Cyborg’s father, Silas Stone.
3. Iris West – Kiersey Clemons
Similar to Cyborg, Flash was also not showcased in detail in the 2017 theatrical version of the Justice League. Snyder’s JL has another supporting character from the Flash comics as well. Barry Allen’s father, Henry Allen, features in the 2017 Whedon cut but not Iris West. In the comics, Iris West is the love interest and childhood friend of Barry Allen. There was a glimpse of Iris in the deleted scene from the theatrical cut. In Zack Snyder’s Justice League Kiersey Clemons is cast as West. We get a better look at Iris West in the new trailer.
4. Green Lantern – Ryan Reynolds?
The Justice League can not be complete without a Lantern in it. One of the primary members of the league, Green Lantern, was missing from the theatrical cut. Though the Green Lantern Corps. was shown in a montage in the 2017 cut, Zack Snyder seems to expand on it a bit. With an on and off rumour about Ryan Reynolds reprising the Green suit, Snyder has confirmed that there will be a Lantern. Will it be Reynolds or someone else? Let’s hope we get an official announcement soon.
5. Martian Manhunter – Harry J Lennix
When we talk about the Justice League of America from the comics or the animated series, Martian Manhunter is present in almost every version. The metamorphosing character has been present in the current DCEU and has been right in front of our eyes. As per the rumors, General Swanwick is the Martian Manhunter. For reference, General Swanwick has featured in the DC Extended Universe since Man Of Steel. According to some fan theories, General Swanwick, played by Harry Lennix, will eventually transform into J’onn J’onnz.
6. Joker – Jered Leto
Oh yes, the clown prince is back. There was no sign or mention of the Joker in Joss Whedon’s Justice League in 2017, but Snyder is making the change. Recently there came a confirmation that none other than Jared Leto is joining the reshoots of JL as the Joker. There could be a possible introduction of the Injustice League in the DCEU, but Joker is sure to bring the Justice League a whole new set of challenges.
7. Darkseid – Ray Porter
The big boy is here! The Lord of the Apokolips is coming to conquer the world and the Justice League has a challenge on their hands. In the theatrical version, Steppenwolf infiltrates the earth to acquire the Mother Boxes so that Darkseid and his army can annihilate the Earth. Though in the theatrical version, Justice League managed to stop Steppenwolf from calling Darkseid. Snyder Cut shows a glimpse of the Darkseid. Even though Snyder has said that Darkseid is going to be a baby in his cut, i.e, Uxas, we still can’t wait to see the Dark God in all his glory. Actor Ray Porter who is cast as the villain was first few supporters that came out and confirmed his presence in the Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League cast Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as The Flash. The four-part movie is set to come out on 5 September 2021. Which of these missing characters you’re excited to see most in the Justice League?
