Taapsee Pannu has been dropping hints that she could be the one starring in, and as, Indian women’s cricket captain, Mithali Raj, in the cricketer’s biopic
Indian male cricketers’ biopics have been ruling the screens in the last few years. But now, a biopic on India’s most popular woman cricketer, Mithali Raj, is all set to be made. While the project was announced in 2017, the makers of the film are now keen on roping in Taapsee Pannu for the lead role.
Will Taapsee Pannu fit in Indian women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj’s Shoe?
“The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic,” Taapsee Pannu said in a recent interview.
Mithali Raj is the only woman cricketer in India to have scored over 6,000 runs in the ODIs. Moreover, the sportsperson recently completed 20 years in international cricket.
In another biopic centered at sports, Taapsee will be seen alongside Bhumi Pednekar in ‘Saand Ki Aankh’. They would be playing the roles of the world’s oldest sharpshooters, Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakash Tomar, in the Anurag Kashyap production.
Tapsee has been known to play some really bold roles in Bollywood. So, the thought of her playing a cricketer lights an excitement for the movie that hasn’t even been set in motion yet. How do you think will she fit in the role? Share your views in the comment section below.
